I have a background in marketing and media relations as well as program management. For years I got clients tons of great press and increased sales. Then I lost 70lbs+ on paleo and transitioned into being a trainer and nutrition coach. I would like to combine the two to become professionally Groky. I would like to do paleo PR and marketing in a scaleable capacity that goes beyond on-on-one coaching.

Any ideas for companies/thought leaders who could use a marketing and media boost? Perhaps in the realms of real food, longevity/anti-aging, health publishing, tech and wellness companies/non-profits? I am NYC-based and open to the of moving into (literally) greener pastures.

I do Internet marketing and really dislike my current job where we sell stuff nobody wants to hear about. So many gimmicks and attempts to make things that are uninteresting interesting. I would love to do marketing for a cause I believe in. If you're ever in Houston, you've got an ally! All we need is a company :)

You could include how to create/improve their online profile and attract clients. Every coach you help may get help 10+ monthly clients. That'd be at least more scaleable for you than one on one.

I'm sure there are a lot of People in similar positions.

All the best with it and keep me posted!

Contact Paleo bloggers and offer your marketable skills for a fee. Perhaps email several and work-from-home in increasing their readership and internet and off-internet presence.

I believe there is a Paleo Magazine now, perhaps there's a job for you there?

There are Paleo products popping up all over the place, contact those companies or look for positions available.

Look for local butchers, grocery stores, or eateries that follow a 'Paleo template' and inquire there.

If I was in your situation, I'd contact all the above outlets. Be your own PR to get what kind of career you're looking for. If they don't answer back or say 'no', no harm no foul. If they do... then your on to something. I think you can do it. I hope this was helpful, and good luck. :)

Get a tattoo on your upper back that says "paleo"

Get a tattoo on your right pec that says "it"

Get a tattoo on your left pec that says "works"

Walk around shirtless as often as possible and strut your stuff for the world to see...seeing is believing.

She made money by starting an Internet company where she matched the clients who were looking for a babysitter with babysitters who were looking for jobs. I forgot what it was called, I think it was based in Chicago.

You can start your own internet company by matching people who want to lose weight with nutritional/health/coaches and personal motivators. Tons of people want to lose weight. They go to Weight Watchers and they lose weight just to gain it all back again because they are told to count points and they are not taught basic nutrition.

Or you can start a company like Weight Watchers but with a Paleo twist. You can call it "Natural Weight Loss". Instead of having weight-ins and weekly meetings, people will have to walk in the nearby park while talking about nutrition or something like that.

Just throwing out some ideas, but there are endless possibilities.

http://paleohacks.com/questions/158163/paleo-marketing-careers/158337#158337Answer by Karen P. for Paleo marketing careers Karen P.2012-10-26T22:22:16Z2012-10-26T22:22:16Z
I, too, work in marketing, but any paying work I've had on that front has been not Paleo-related. I write for Paleo Magazine, 2 blogs, and participate in a collaborative podcast, but aside from the magazine gigs, nothing Paleo actually pays me money.

I've been in this community for two years and I can say that the pickings are slim out there. Everyone is trying to carve out a niche for themselves and become a guru of sorts, whether that's through coaching, cookbooks, advice books, or whatever. In my opinion, the ones who are successful (Chris Kresser, Diane Sanfilippo, Robb Wolf, Mark Sisson, etc.) are attaching the blogs, books, and podcasts to a service they already provide, perhaps with the exception of Sisson, who seems to be wealthy through other means and this is his retirement plan. But even then, I'm not sure anyone's able to quit their day jobs, even with NY Times bestsellers.

Which is all to say that there may not be anyone (yet) to hire you. You may have to carve out your own thing. In my experience, the if-you-build-it-they-will-come model isn't the worst one out there as long as you are patient and don't burn out before recognition happens. It's taken me nearly two years to get this far, and Paleo ain't paying my bills yet, probably never will.

So it all depends on how you want to do this. But if you're looking to get hired on somewhere? You're either too early or too optimistic. I don't think it exists yet. :/
