It was wonderful and I haven't had one in over 2 years. The rest of the day was good, except for a chocolate mousse cake for dessert.

Tomorrow I have another bagel for breakfast and the rest of the day again, sans dessert should be Paleo.

The 26th my mom has ordered my very favorite lasagna for dinner and told me that I will eat it. LOL. I will eat it and not worry about it.

The 27th she is making a turkey dinner (my sister and nieces are coming in from NH). I love my mom's stuffing and I will eat it.

I'm okay with all of this. I am not celiac. I do not have any real reactions to wheat. Kaz 2010-12-25T07:46:15Z 2010-12-25T07:46:15Z
I'm a paleo newbie, after forgetting to grab a rice cake for breakfast a few weeks ago for breakfast and for the first time in years, did not have stomach pain. Funny how innocent, "hypoallergenic" rice was doing a number on me all this time and I had no idea. (I had already eliminated soy, gluten, and dairy, and after making the grain connection, threw out rice and other grains -- as well as legumes -- from my diet for good.)

Unfortunately, I can't really "cheat" too much on my diet or I'll get terribly ill. Paleo chose me, not the other way around.

That said, I indulged in a couple of truffles this afternoon that had questionable ingredients, but they were a gift, and they tasted pretty darn good. :D Other than the occasional French fry that I've filched from my fella's plate, I don't think I've strayed too much this holiday.

Oh, and last week, I had some weasel-poop coffee (Kopi Luak or 'civet coffee'), about an ounce of wine, and the frosting off some cupcakes. So yeah, guess I did stray a wee bit last week, but my stomach definitely let me know it the next day. It's back to clean eating this week, though, and my body thanks me for it.
http://paleohacks.com/questions/17126/how-much-cheating-did-you-engage-in-this-holiday-season/17146#17146 Answer by Ellen for How much cheating did you engage in this holiday season? The trick is to just make enough GF cookies and treats to get through the couple of days before/after Christmas then back to paleo/primal after. I wake up all mucous-y the next day every time I consume even small amounts of dairy or gluten, so I know well enough to stay away. But then... I pigged out on 13oz container of Nutella. It on was a day after wrapping up a period of prolonged stress, getting some new bad news, and just generally feeling out of whack from PMS and what feel like kidney stone pains. Not great to eat something industrially processed and with questionable ingrediants, but I thoroughly enjoyed every spoonful :).

I'm ready to move on now, and I can honestly say that I think the paleo food I cook at home is so much more delicious than all the SAD-palette family and restaurant food I've sampled during the holidays. What I once thought was delicious, now just tastes overly salty or sickly sweet. Mostly, the holidays confirmed that I'm not missing out on anything by sticking to paleo.
