If I don't eat anything but real, un-processed food, and I get all of my meat and eggs from a farm that is 60 miles away, buy my veggies from the local farmer's market....

It seems that I do have more money since switching to paleo, even though I am buying higher-quality food that costs more. I am definitely saving money just from not eating out at restaurants regularly, but I had never thought about subsidies and hidden taxes.

Wow, is this an unintended benefit of the paleo way-of-eating?

Of course, even fresh whole foods encounter extensive taxes as they move through the traditional food distribution channel.

However, if you buy direct and local from small producers, my guess is they will be under-reporting their income in a big way which would yield significant tax savings.
