Dr. Bernstein recommended using "Phloe" for constipation during his Webinar for diabetics last week. Has anyone used Phloe? It's supposedly a product made of prebiotics, fiber and enzymes extracted from New Zealand kiwi fruit.

http://www.phloe.co.nz/aboutphloe/howitworks/

I've tried probiotics and diagestive enzymes before (supplemented by yams, sweet potatoes and yuca as prebiotics). But has anyone used this?

There is porbably nothing I haven't tried, except for a few probiotic brands I haven't purchased yet (I'll be using Natren's Healthy Trinity and Dr. Ohira's soon when my current probiotics run out). But this one I haven't heard of.

The constipation I suffer from results from Low Carbing and has two components: (i) lack of moisture in the colon and (ii) pellet-like Bristol chart 1 stool. I've tried various different methods but nothing so far that permanently resolves Big C.

Edited 5/16/2011: Before Dr. B used to recommend something called "Pecta-Sol C" powder. Some kind of apple pectin powder. Not sure if this was effective.

I haven't used it. This is what I do: I know this sounds kind of weird but, I found cultured coconut milk at my local co-op and its available at Whole Foods. Its kind of like kefir, liquid yogurt. I get the plain and it tastes like bland buttermilk so I add some coconut nectar to it to give it a little sweetness. I think it might be saving me from the low carb slowness. The coconut milk has probiotics added and the coconut nectar is 80% inulin which is a soluble fiber that is pretty awesome. Check the wikipedia for info on it. I used to love buttermilk this reminds me of it a lot.

Tallow and lard are great. I don't go with pure paleo so I make beans with lots of lard and/or tallow in them (preparing the beans based on Nourishing Traditions suggestions). Coconut oil is good too. Eat a lot of it at first and see if you get results...and the sat fat is only healthy for you anyway.

He suggested taking a highly absorbable magnesium supplement like natural calm. I would also suggest eat some fermented foods like sauerkraut and beet kvass.
