<p>The author appears to have taken <a href="http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Aquatic_ape_hypothesis" rel="nofollow">Aquatic Ape</a> daydreaming to new and bizarre heights. </p> <p>That article is a laughable mishmash of fallacy, ignorance and maybe even a dash of insanity. Humans and dolphins are not related in any significant sense, except in that we are both mammals; our evolutionary trees split a long, long time ago, and superficial similarities like which end we like to have sex with are obviously irrelevant. Genetic similarity doesn't really tell us anything about anything - humans and chimps share a huge percentage of DNA, yet we remain hugely dissimilar in most relevant respects.</p> <p>The article's claim that a common ancestor between apes, dolphins and humans has been suppressed is hilarious. Obviously there is a common ancestor, but to suggest that it is close enough to the present to be relevant is contradicted by all available evidence. To further suggest that this knowledge is secret and forbidden is one of the most nonsensical and amusing conspiracy theories I've ever seen.</p> <p>Just a rule of thumb on the internets: if you find insane conspiracy theories on a horribly designed website that doesn't look like it's been updated since 1998, there's a very high probability that said insane conspiracy theories are in fact as insane as they appear. Maybe it should be added to the rules of the internet: the closer to <a href="http://www.timecube.com/" rel="nofollow">TimeCube</a> a site appears, the less likely it is that said site has anything of value on it.</p>

<p>I always like to throw in that we are as related to the Bonobo as we are to chimps. Dolphins are wonderful animals. I was most impressed by the work of John Lilly with dolphins, but , no, I don't think they are as related to us as the Bonobo. </p>

<p>Cetaceans share a common ancestor with the hippo before diverging into marine mammals. Sometimes when walking passed SAD eaters at the malls grazing from the food trough, I mean food court, I do see a greater resemblance compared with primates. </p>
