The question is more about the sustainability of the paleo way of eating. I have been doing it for 6 weeks lost 23 lbs and feel fantastic. now granted, I have been doing it on grain fed meat but right now its a little too pricey for me for grass fed. All processed foods have been dropped though. As I sit here and eat my sirloin and veggies, a question popped in my head: If all of America dropped processed food and all the extra sugar, that can be done but if all the meat was produced via paleo way (pastured and grass fed) could we even sustain our 300,000,000 population? Would we be able to produce enough food?

The answer is obviously no. If you've ever read Michael Pollan or The Vegetarian Myth, they both mention Joel Salatin's farm, which actually leaves the soil more fertile. Anyway, we must question our current practices that rely on large amounts of industrial fertilizers and pesticides. Supporting local farming practices that avoid these practices is key and much of the paleo lifestyle promotes this aspect. So if anything, paleo is more sustainable.
