I'm going to give birth soon, and I'm looking for some good paleo recipes that will freeze well. Anyone have any ideas for me? So far, all I've got is meatloaf..! Thanks!
http://paleohacks.com/questions/41139/freezer-meal-suggestions/41142#41142 Answer by Vixenite for Freezer Meal Suggestions Vixenite 2011-05-30T11:17:27Z 2011-05-30T11:17:27Z
congrats & good luck.

any type of soup (e.g. pumpkin or veggie soup).

i find curry is good, you can make the protein (chicken, lamb, beef) in a big batch and i always do a huge pot of sweet potato/pumpkin mash which goes great with curry.

spagetti sauce is another good one as if you make a nice meaty/tomoato sauce base you can serve it with cabbage noodles, use it to stuff peppers, top big mushrooms and grill them etc.
http://paleohacks.com/questions/41139/freezer-meal-suggestions/41143#41143 Answer by Jan for Freezer Meal Suggestions Jan 2011-05-30T11:23:03Z 2011-05-30T11:23:03Z
consider getting a some sort of food saver. Vacuumed meat and fish keep and thaw much better. Less oxidation of fats... etc, and you can maybe later on try sous vide cooking. Sous vide cooked salmon suffers almost no loss of quality when frozen in the bag.
http://paleohacks.com/questions/41139/freezer-meal-suggestions/41146#41146 Answer by David Rourke for Freezer Meal Suggestions David Rourke 2011-05-30T11:38:39Z 2011-05-30T11:38:39Z
Freeze a big batch of chili.
http://paleohacks.com/questions/41139/freezer-meal-suggestions/41151#41151 Answer by Dexter for Freezer Meal Suggestions Dexter 2011-05-30T12:17:19Z 2011-05-30T12:17:19Z
http://hawaiianlibertarian.blogspot.com/2011/05/paleo-baby.html

I thought you might enjoy the story of a real paleo baby. Good nutritional information.

http://paleohacks.com/questions/41139/freezer-meal-suggestions/41154#41154 Answer by familygrokumentarian for Freezer Meal Suggestions familygrokumentarian 2011-05-30T13:03:05Z 2011-05-30T13:08:14Z
Congratulations! :) Wonderful news. Here are a few thoughts:

Make some eggplant lasagnas. Basically you thinly slice eggplant, sautee it in butter, and layer with whole fat cheese and sauce in a baking pan (adding ground beef or other ground meat is a great idea too to up the satiation!). Should freeze very well and this is easy to premake in individual portions.

Buy a whole bunch of grilling meats and have a major grilling session. Chicken breast, lamb chops, pork chops, and of course: STEAKS. Cut your grilled meat into bite sized pieces, then portion and freeze into 8 oz. servings. You can then thaw these/warm them up and add them to salads, soups, and paleo-friendly marinara sauces. I like combining steak pieces with prebagged brocolli slaw and a sesame oil dressing for a fast meal.

Go to your local warehouse club and acquire a bag of frozen wild Alaskan salmon fillets. They are a good quick grilling or baking option for after baby arrives, and keep your Omega-3 levels boosted. Another option to keep around: canned salmon or other canned fish.

I saw a terrific-looking twice-baked potatoes recipe by Joyful Abode, who made them ahead and then ate them after she gave birth to her daughter. That post made me want to acquire a vacuum sealer - she made it look very easy and practical!

Get to know your paleo-friendly packaged foods. [Gasp! I know it seems contradictory to the paleo ethos but once baby is here if you have a few quick items in your pantry without bizarro ingredients you'll be grateful. Of course this may not be your first baby, so you probably already knew that. :)] I already mentioned finding yourself a paleo-friendly marinara sauce. Some other things to think about are up-nursing-at-3-a.m.-and-ravenous-but-don't-want-to-get-up-and-warm-something options like Larabars, Tanka bars, and grain-free granola (you can make this now if you could keep the batch around until then! Wouldn't work at our house; we'd easily eat it all inside of a week). Yes, some of these are carbier options, but they are still miles better than a bowl of breakfast cereal.

Good luck to you and your family! :)
http://paleohacks.com/questions/41139/freezer-meal-suggestions/41162#41162 Answer by Vrimj for Freezer Meal Suggestions Vrimj 2011-05-30T14:05:07Z 2011-05-30T14:05:07Z
I don’t know if this works for you but we buy the crockpot liners fill them with meat and cooking sauce and some veggies twist tie them shut and freeze, then they can go in to the pot in the morning and take no attention.

They are not all appropriate but the recipes in a year of crockpotting are all gluten free. I look at the meat ones and most of them are paleo friendly or adapatable.
http://paleohacks.com/questions/41139/freezer-meal-suggestions/41168#41168 Answer by Aughra for Freezer Meal Suggestions Aughra 2011-05-30T14:17:33Z 2011-05-30T14:17:33Z
Stew. I ate a lot of it during my first month. Dent even red onfreeze stuff. Just thrown in some meat, veggies and simmer all day. Oh also. Freeze lots of bone broth. You'll Need the extra minerals during your recovery. One of my girlfriends brought me two gallons of marrow bone broth and it was so soothing. I drank it like tea in a mug.
