obviously, with the options like honey, syrup, molasses... these are still high in sugar, and therefore should be treated accordingly.

I use pure stevia powder to sweeten coffee and a little in my PWO drink, but I use such a teensie tiny amount of it (one serving size is 1/32 tsp) that I really don't think it's even possible to be a problem, especially since there are no known ill-effects (I do remember someone on PH saying that it had an effect on their blood pressure though...)

The others I use very rarely usually in baked goods or other occasional treats that I personally need to make my life worth living (and keep me on the straight and narrow with my food.) Perhaps not the best choice viewed in isolation but the perfect choice when taking in the 30,000 ft view.

I say go ahead throw a big blog of honey on something and enjoy the heck out of it if it will make you happy and keep you from cracking. In the end I think usage of these sweeteners is personal choice but IMO if used strategically they can be a powerful tool to keep us in the game.

I would skip the "sugar subsitutes like Stevia and malitol, etc, better to just use sugar.

Here is a link to that if you want to read it. link text
