Hi all, I am wondering if there is a relationship between eating raw meat(specifically beef) and tooth decay. What prompted my question is the feeling and condition of teeth after raw meat consumption: they feel more grainy for lack of a better word, similar to when one consumes any acidic substance. Despite brushing I am still registering this feeling. Has anyone had similar experiences with raw meat? If so what do they attribute these symptoms to(acids, etc.)?

That is why the teeth start to feel a tad different. You teeth are less likely to decay eating meat. Step mutans is the bacteria that causes decay and it eating meat destroys its ecological niches in you mouth over time.

Use this info http://www.johnberardi.com/articles/nutrition/bases.htm to calculate the acidbase balance of your diet and go from there.

I can definitely say that eating only meat and fat, I never feel like my teeth are unclean. I try to remember to brush now and then just out of prudence, but they never feel like they "need" it.

It seems unlikely that meat in any form would cause tooth decay. Do wild carnivores have tooth decay? Did paleo (wo)man? I don't know.

Sometimes just a walk or some time outdoors makes every problem going away. And the PH is balnced also.
