<p>Hi everyone. Im new to the site and also to paleo. I have been paleo for 2 days and seem to be going ok. I find myself eating less and less everyday. Due to feeling satisfied. I havent weighed in but am planning on doing so once i have reached the 7 day mark. Would like to lose about 40 pounds. I am 5ft11 and 215 at the moment. Would love to hear some of your stats, how long you have been on paleo and also how much you have lost. Thanx heaps. </p>

It'll be faster at first, until you lose about 20 lbs, then it'll slow down. Seen it happen a lot.</p>

<p>I've been rocking it paleo style for about 3 weeks and have already lost 10 pounds. I'm breastfeeding so I think that helps but in general I've heard and read that weight loss on paleo can be quite fast. :)</p>

I lost 17 the 1st month, 11 the 2nd, and 5 the 3rd...but also lost 8.6% body fat too. So just keep at it!! Dial in your food first, stay clean all the time!! No cheats!! Once you've been on it a bit and see how your body reacts then you ramp up the exercise and it'll start up again. Stick with it!! </p>

I'm also 5'11". Started out at 270. The weight loss was about 2 lbs/week, sometimes more. Naturally you eat less than it takes to maintain such a high weight. However when I got to 200 it began to crawl. It can take two or three weeks now for me to lose a pound. Fat is calorie dense. Yes, it inhibits insulin, but there is another fat storage pathway--excess dietary fat doesn't just vanish into thin air. While it's unlikely to put on weight, it can make weight loss at the target end very slow. Being younger helps.</p>

<p>ive been paleo for about 11 months. i lost 35 pounds in six months, and nothing since march. ive experimented with ketogenic, zc, vlc, moderate carb. moderate protein, high protein. high fat, moderate fat. starchy tubers and gluten free grains and none. lacto-paleo and dairy free. whole30 and carb cycling.</p>
<p>everyones body is different and depending on hormonal status, medical hx, how you gained the weight and about a trillion other variables you may lose weight on the faster side or the slower side. best advice i have is to focus on the myriad of other health benefits that paleo has to offer you, and everything else will fall into place. </p>

I haven't lost any weight but I've lost three dress sizes (from a 14 to an 8). I lost those dress sizes rapidly, in the first 60 days or so. The pounds are not always indicative of success. My body fat is low and I've put on a lot of muscle. </p>

It is pretty steady. I'd say, some might disagree, it's not a problem if you will weight yourself every day - I do and it motivates me when I see how the number is going down. ;-)</p>
<p>I even eat moderate amounts of fruits and the weight still goes down. What I cut was soft drinks, candies, bread, pastries, and also severely limited potatoes and rice. In short, my experience is that going low carb causes weight loss.</p>
<p>Regarding exercising, for now I opted for walking and hiking only, and it seems to be enough for now.</p>

Don't cheat for the first 30 days. I would also stay off dairy and cut out nuts. If you find that nuts keep you extra satisfied, then by all means eat them. For me, nuts are just too much calories in a reasonably-sized serving, which is a golf-ball-sized handful, not a bag.</p>
<p>I would also stay off fruit at first. I saw best results by leaving them out. Paleo fixed my insulin sensitivity, so I can now enjoy more fruit and carbs in general without gaining fat, but it took some time. Right now I eat 2-4 servings of fruit a day and a variable amount of starches, and I can still see some body recomposition.</p>
<p>Nutritional choices are #1 in weight loss. #2 is rest/sleep, #3 is physical activity. This is my opinion and experiences, not academic facts.</p>
<p>Don't get frustrated if weight loss stalls. Plateaus are common, but they can be beaten. If you hit a wall, don't change everything right away, keep doing what you do, keep eating smart, and you might beat the plateau without any hacking. If you think you might need some hacks, intermittent fasting is a great way to start, but don't do it if your daily nutrition isn't already in a pretty decent balance and if you have any issues with sleep, digestion or other health concerns.</p>
<p>Keep up the good work. One more tip, when you think or crave foods that are bad for you, remember, they are not going to disappear from the world, and there will be another time to have it, when it is truly worth it! </p>
<p>edit: forgot to answer you question: I've been paleo for a year now, I lost about 20 pounds in 8 months (from 190 to 170, im a 6'1" male).</p>
http://paleohacks.com/questions/58481/is-weight-loss-on-paleo-slow/58573#58573Answer by Hoover for Is weight loss on paleo slow?Hoover2011-08-16T10:41:52Z2011-08-16T10:41:52Z<p>ive been on it for 4 about 4 months now...originally i lost about 5 pounds but i have actually gained it back plus 3/4-ish pounds BUT this is with a combination of the paleo and diet and crossfit. my weight was originally 152 now im 156 but with a MUCH lower body fat. ive read that the paleo diet is not intended for weight loss, but it allows your body to find its natural weight/composition. however, this usually means your weight is lower and your comp is much improved. eating paleo is a slow loss, if a loss at all, but the results are fantastic. i get on the scale and find myself looking at the 156 totally content because I look and feel better. i spoke with a paleo nutritionist and he said that if i continue on my eating regiment the little bit of excess fat i still have should eventually go away and i will see a weight loss (about 13/14 pound estimate). keep playing with what you eat and dont get too overwhelmed by the numbers...its about how you look and feel. </p>

I was pretty strict with my diet but I consumed a good bit of fruit initially to help with the intense sugar withdrawl I experienced. For exercise, I was hiking/sprinting/scrambling on natural terrain 2-3 times per week for 2-3 hours per session. I have since dropped as low as 171 but my average weight is around 174. Once I hit 175, I began consuming whole milk again. I feel great! I compete in xc mountain bike races and I'm much faster than before. I hang with guys who last year would have beat me by 30 minutes. The only downside is that I had to buy all new clothes. </p>
