Am I the only person that finds this a bit offensive? It's been circulating Facebook for the past 4 hours...

http://paleohacks.com/questions/67663/forks-over-knives/67667#67667Answer by Practicing Paleo for Forks over knivesPracticing Paleo2011-09-28T20:45:08Z2011-09-28T20:45:08Z
Well, first the kid should be holding a triple cheeseburger and a large soda with fries coming out his ears. Each parent can hold whatever processed food item/s of choice but they did not get large eating turkey legs and drinking raw milk. Second, these obese Americans could care less where veggies get their protein. They are not interested in health at all and/or do not link health to what they stuff in their faces. My vegan friends are overweight or skinny but look like their skin is falling off their bones and 10 years older than they really are.

Not offended because the group on the right do not practice a Paleo WOE and the group on the left must of just went vegan, let's see them and their medical/dental bills in a couple months.

http://paleohacks.com/questions/67663/forks-over-knives/67669#67669Answer by FED at LiveCaveman.com for Forks over knivesFED at LiveCaveman.com2011-09-28T20:59:09Z2011-09-28T20:59:09Z
I think that the image is stupid because it implies that the reason for "side B"s obesity is that they consume animal protein and the reason why "side A" is thin (and also a bit haughty IMHO) is that they get their protein from vegetables.

"Vegetarian" foods like french fries, soda, candy, etc. are a much more likely culprit for why side B is so rotund.

P.S. I'm referring to my own eating style as "carnomnivore" (carnivore + nom + omnivore) from here on out.

And anyone who has an interest in dispelling the myths of the nutritional establishment has a vested interest in dispelling the bad science, ridiculous conventional wisdom, and stereotyping that surround fatness and fat people in our culture.

If someone doesn't agree with your point of view them you call them a bigot, a racist, a murderer, and a nazi, and then follow that up by misrepresenting their position with a witty cartoon. Anyone who is shallow enough to be swayed by name calling and cartoons had probably already made up their mind to start with, so there not much point in responding to it.

If anyone knows of a way to deal with unreasonable people then by all means share it with the rest of us, but I have yet to find a way.

http://paleohacks.com/questions/67663/forks-over-knives/67724#67724Answer by Jeff Rowe for Forks over knivesJeff Rowe2011-09-29T03:23:36Z2011-09-29T03:23:36Z
Before I even got into Paleo, when I read a description of the China Study and I was amazed at the incredible holes in the thought processes. It still amazes me at how they generalize animal proteins using a single dairy source, yet push vegearianism, never considering the various major issues large groups of people have to the various veggies, fruits, legumes, grains...

I am very new to paleo, but I have yet to see a flaw in the logic. Ive lost weight faster in the past, but many of the processes I used then were simply 80% paleo without me realizing it.

http://paleohacks.com/questions/67663/forks-over-knives/122262#122262Answer by Harry B. for Forks over knivesHarry B.2012-05-25T05:20:23Z2012-05-25T05:20:23Z
Is this the site for sad little people who make excuses for their lack of self control? i.e. obese couch potatoes who are so disgusted with themselves that they will do and say anything to justify their suicidal diets and lifestyles. The China Study is written by someone who is educated in that field, Jeff Rowe - please don't attempt to compete with that kind of knowledge.

No, I don't have a problem with the cartoon at all. Obesity is not something we are unable to control. It is a choice, a bad choice, but nonetheless a choice! Let me hazard a guess, that the majority of people on this site are here because they prefer to criticise those who eat and live healthily, rather than do something about their own half-life of eating garbage and weighing too much.

Stop making excuses for fat people. Race, skin colour, or gender are things we cannot and need not change about ourselves. Obesity should be discouraged because it is costing taxpayers and an overloaded health system. It is also disgusting to see people doing this to themselves, especially when every second of every day someone is dying of starvation.

Don't tell me to stop criticising fat people!!!
