<p>Ive tried Natural Calm and it gave me vivid dreams and made me really lethargic the next day. Upon suggestion from Paleohacks I bought some Magnesium glycinate which doesnt give me the dreams but I still feel like I was hit with a tranquilizer dart the next day. Im only taking one tablespoon and it does help my stiff back so I assume I need it. Is there something else lacking that is causing this to occur? A quick google search reveals that some other people have experienced this same problem but no answers as to why it may be happening.</p>

Calcium is it's opposite and triggers contraction. Either lower the dose of mag or try adding calcium.</p>

<p>My long term strategy is to put enough salt into my food (lot of people are not aware of the importance of this step), and then eat enough mineral-rich foods - but most of the Paleo food does have this property, so that's not such a problem. Eating enough sodium (salt) is especially important if you eat lower-carb, which many paleo-ers do.</p>
<p>I do not have experience with supplementation, but as I understand it, to be safe one should then supplement all of the main minerals, and not just pick up some of them selectively (unless doctor prescribes them). But that's only my opinion.</p>
