We are a pretty fabulous support group for each other, IMHO, and we all should feel good about feeling good. Even for those PHers who aren't "Paleo or die," it seems that we are generally doing well keeping with the lifestyle and a far cry from the diet-crazed people who say every New Year's Day, "this year I'm really sticking with it."

With that in mind, I thought it would be a good idea to do this now in early November before the holidays (with apologies to Canadians who already had Thanksgiving) and their associatied temptations rear their SADdy heads; let's hear from PHers who are working toward goals like weight loss, muscle building, eliminating GERD, reversing Type II diabetes, reducing inflammation, lowering serum triglycerides, etc. How long have you been at it and how are you doing so far?

In my own case, I've been working on weight loss. I've gone down 10-15lb since March of this year when I started, but the real key is that I'm a size down around the waist and my whole body is slowly starting to look a little more cut. I shaved my beard clean off after Halloween and got a new haircut, and people are noticing.

I started in April and did extremely well until mid-August, when I succumbed to binge eating. The good news is each binge (yes, there were 3) failed to deliver satisfaction and made me sick. It was effective aversion therapy as I am very solidly primal/IF now with no urge to binge at all. I was not using IF when I fell off the wagon. Or, more accurately, I had been IF-ing earlier but had strayed into frequent meals, then made the brilliant decision that a soft-serve cone wouldn't hurt anything--hence the binges.

I am down a net 30 or so pounds with 40 more to go.

My grandson and I ignored Halloween and we will have a primal Thanksgiving although we will attend a neighborhood pot-luck; I will take at least 2 primal dishes and graze for anything else suitable and I'll cook my turkey on Friday.

Though I don't think I'm going to create too much stress to lose my spare tire to the holiday season. I'll probably cheat a few times (I have a good wheat-free fruitcake recipe), but otherwise I'll likely stay fairly Primal.

My current milestone is to eliminate my asthma inhaler, my daily steroidal companion since the fourth grade, from my life. Most recently, I managed to go a month without it, but had to start using it again over the weekend. The temperature here in San Diego finally dropped enough for us to turn on the furnace, which hasn't seen use in maybe nine months. The dust inflamed my allergies, which in turn inflamed my asthma.

Oh well, I'm pretty happy with a month away from my inhaler. It wasn't that long ago that, if I missed a day, I'd be wheezing and unable to move around much. Now I have no trouble pushing myself while lifting heavy things.

I need to lose some weight and so far I've lost about 40 pounds (10 were pre-paleo) and I'm so happy with the changes in my mood, energy level, and bodily dimensions.

I was already eating WAPF, so the transition wasn't terribly difficult for me. I did go a bit too low carb at first, but once I corrected that I was on my way and feeling great. I don't have any health problems and when I last had blood work done (pre-paleo) it was pretty good. Triglycerides were a bit on the high side, but I suspect that will be better when I have my yearly physical next year.

I no longer crave sweets. I am looking the best I have EVER. I feel good. Last week was my birthday, and I allowed myself to eat what ever I wanted... OH MAN! I had bread, I had cake, I had chocolate, I had candy, I had soda..... I SUFFERED for 2 days!

Now I am afraid to eat like that again!! I only ate off Paleo twice during the last 5 weeks... and they were small (rice and something cooked with a sugary sauce).. besides that... I cook for myself, and it is great! The Paleo recipes have helped a lot too.

I am not going to kill myself over this, like for thanks giving, I will have a bite of stuffing, and maybe a tiny slice of pumpkin pie... I have to be a little normal (at least in front of my family)... BUT I LOOK BETTER THAN THEM! hahaha!!

THANKS PALEO!!
