It took me a while to notice this, but I can have a huge omelet and I'm hungry and hour or two later. I can have a cup of yogurt and I'm hungry an hour or two later. Chicken, same thing.

But if I have a nice meal of fatty beef, it's the next day before my body starts saying, "Feed me!" Since I prefer to IF that's ideal.

Has anyone else noticed this effect? If not, what best satisfies YOUR appetite?

I think when people eat eggs, chicken, etc. They don't get enough fat with it to stay full.

I agree with you, btw. Nothing keeps me full for breakfast like a half pound of grass-fed ground beef cooked in ghee or coconut oil and some veggies sauteed in the same. Sometimes I'll add a sunny side up egg on top of the veggies too.

I can eat a healthy portion of beef at 1 pm and my body won't seem to want food until the next day.

I have the same response to pork (except bacon), and dishes with lots of coconut milk or coconut oil. In general I find the meals I eat on a paleo-esque diet to be extremely satiating in much lower quantities than the meals I used to eat that were heavier on grains and much, much lighter on the meat (often with no meat at all).

The majority of the time I go for the Japanese sweet potato.

Either thin slices and roasting to munch on or the whole thing in it's jacket. That actually "sticks" to me better and definitely carries to the next morning into my workout. Usually eaten plain, so good, or I might use a little compound butter that I keep in my freezer - made with white miso, a little scallion, butter. I'll just break off a small piece and slide it into the center of the baked.

Tasty fuel.

I also find any meat along with two egg yolks very filling. I haven't had butter for awhile as part of an n=1.

Beef or lamb, organs even more than muscle. Nothing even comes close. Eggs, yogourt, chicken, fish don't last as long. I noticed this effect the very first day I ate the arterycloggingsateratedredmeatfat back on April 9th. Remember, its "Low Reward"!

But to answer your question, yes beef is very filling... and "feels" more filling than chicken... but it's how i'm eating them that makes it feel different, thereby making it a mind over matter situation. I can eat a lotta beef for instance w/spices, with some Rotel & if i'm feeling cheeky, some corn tortilla chips & be a-ok for the whole day. But, i'm primarily eating beef.
When I eat chicken, I tend to make less so I have room for spinach or broccoli or some yummy (butter laden) veg... so yes, I "feel" like i'm less full on the same quantity (roughly) of food... but it's a matter of how it's served... for me.

An egg has about the same number of calories as an ounce of beef. I can't eat 12 eggs at once, but I can easily eat a 12 oz steak.

If I have a 4 egg omelette or 6-8 ounces of liver, I'm full till dinner. Something about eggs and liver is incredibly satiating to me. Especially for the calories. Cook that liver or eggs in a tbsp of coconut oil and I'm stuffed.
