It's likely as simple as him not knowing that grassfed is more expensive, and honestly if you're willing to share food with him at one meal why should he think that the leftovers should be off-limits? It's a misunderstanding based on lack of communication- there's no need to be defensive about it. In fact, diplomacy will get you much further if you value your relationship.

Instead of ultimatums, why not give him choices? Explain that you choose to eat quality meat and that it is more expensive to buy. Follow with: "Honey, it's just as easy to cook for two, however being the only one buying the grassfed meat is hard on my pocketbook. I'd like to continue to share meals with you... so would you prefer to pitch in money for grassfed meat or would you prefer to buy and eat conventionally raised meat? Either way I'd be happy to cook it while I'm cooking my dinner." Or something along those lines.

Give him the benefit of the doubt. Anyway, this will be good practice for future financial discussions, especially if you plan to get married/consolidate bank accounts with someone at any point... Best of luck! :)

http://paleohacks.com/questions/131316/paleo-pasta-possible/131393#131393Answer by AnnaMaria for Paleo Pasta Possible?AnnaMaria2012-06-29T13:23:15Z2012-06-29T13:23:15Z
My solution to this and the whole food issue is to buy a spiralizer - I bought mine off of amazon for cheap. It allows you to chop your vegetables into noodle shapes.

A recipe: Butternut squash pasta with sausage and browned butter

Peel a butternut squash, slice in half and seed. Use the spiralizer to chop squash into ribbons (shaped like flat egg noodles- directions will be included with your spiralizer). The noodles may be a little long (the length of the squash) so give them one or two rough chops to shorten them a little.

Then season ground pork with sage, salt, pepper, and any other spices you like your sausage to contain. Fry in fat of choice until browned and crumbly. Reserve. Add butter to pan, scraping up browned bits (you want the butter to brown a bit). Sautee squash noodles in batches until al dente (or preferred texture). Combine all in large bowl, adding more butter and sage to taste. Enjoy twirly, pasta-like primal goodness. For those that don't do dairy, EVOO can be substituted, but will lack some of the depth of flavor.

Perfect autumny goodness. :)

http://paleohacks.com/questions/113160/still-having-acne-after-3-years-of-paleo-dieting-advices-please/113220#113220Answer by AnnaMaria for Still having acne after 3 years of "Paleo" dieting. Advices please...AnnaMaria2012-04-19T13:42:16Z2012-04-19T13:42:16Z
I suspect that there is definately something internal going on, likely a vitamin or mineral deficiency. Definately get your levels checked, or at the very least plug your food intake into a tool like FitDay to find out if you're consistently low on any particular nutrient. It does sound as though you have leaky gut, but I'm not a doctor...

As for the acne- I've had quite clear skin since going Primal with the exception of the occasional hormonal pimple. What worked for me: cutting out soap and shampoo (using water only on my skin) and a twice daily honey wash on my face. Make sure that it is pure honey- some brands have HFCS added (eewww...). I just use a few mLs and rub it into my face with a little water to help it spread across my skin. Allow it to sit for a couple of minutes then rinse with warm water and blot dry. The results have been fabulous, and I never need makeup anymore!

Additionally, my husband has noticed the same result as Violet after removing soap from his grooming regimen. That and sun exposure and stress reduction has gotten rid of his keratosis pilaris on his arms.

Best of luck!

What I've found to be stress relieving and in line with focusing on happiness is keeping a gratitude journal. I try to write a few things a week that I am grateful for (anything, large or small)- more importantly I write WHY I am grateful for them and how they impact my life. It's a form of meditation and really keeps everything in perspective. It's hard to be stressed when you find so much to be thankful for!http://paleohacks.com/questions/130948/why-cant-i-wake-up/130973#130973Comment by AnnaMariaAnnaMaria2012-06-27T20:21:02Z2012-06-27T20:21:02Z+1, as I totally noticed this too. Yes, Debby has completely wrecked my sleep/wake cycle! I normally wake up with the sunrise, but since the sun hasn't "risen" in days I've gotten less of my normal dose of sunshine. Combine that with working in a lab without windows... I can't wait for a sunny weekend again. Here's to hoping that you haven't flooded!
