I make mashed potatos with butter or ghee and a bone broth gravy.....Oven fried potato wedges with coconut oil and salt.....Split pea soup made with coconut oil and bone broth....fermented, sprouted grain, porridge with oats, quinoa, buckwheat, coconut oil, butter, chia seeds, molasses and cinnamon.

It should be obvious the we don't exactly concern ourselves with calories. Just good, satisfying, nutritious foods.

Your appetite is controlled by hormones. If you are stuffing yourself to the point of discomfort, stop doing it.

Both my wife and I eat 1-2 meals a day...sometimes consuming a lot of food in one extended meal and sometimes less. I can eat a lot or be satisfied with a little. I'm not sure why you would want to stuff yourself..It's not a pleasant feeling. Listen to what your body is telling you.

http://paleohacks.com/questions/105993/do-you-want-to-finally-know-the-nutritional-properties-of-bone-broth/151632#151632Answer by David for Do you want to finally know the nutritional properties of bone broth?David2012-09-24T17:08:24Z2012-09-24T17:08:24Z
I think the nutritional content will probably vary significantly depending on the bones and method you use....If you would like to increase the nutritional content, try simmering them on low for a week and keep throwing in fresh bones and vegetables. The bones (some of them) will become so soft they crumble....I've been eating them.

The best bones I've found to use are cows feet, pigs feet, pork hocks and chicken bones. I have yet to try fish.

http://paleohacks.com/questions/151545/what-paleo-foods-should-i-cut-out-for-weight-loss/151560#151560Answer by David for What paleo foods should I cut out for weight loss?David2012-09-24T06:55:36Z2012-09-24T06:55:36Z
You shouldn't have to eliminate any foods, especially good fat and nutrition sources like avocados and you should have no need to count calories. Eat meals (2-3), with real foods, including lots of raw vegetables (which should take care of your appetite and binging) and stop snacking. If you eat naturally, you will be healthy and reach your ideal weight and % of bodyfat.

Concentrate first on vegetables and good protein/fat sources. Reward yourself for eating sensibly with some fruit (or whatever), if you want it, but only with a meal, after you have had your fill of vegetables, protein and fat........Water only between meals.

Snacking is pretty much just a source of unnecessary calories, binging and failure. Some people have the will power to snack "wisely" and it works for them..others don't.

The first time we tried it, it didn't work out as well. My wife was hungry a lot....So we went to a low carb, almost ketogenic diet, for several months and then tried again. It gets easier but you may need to make adjustments. There are always ways to adjust for almost any problem.

This time We are doing an 18-19 hour fast, followed by a 5-6 hour eating window with few, if any, problems with hunger. Here are some adjustments we made.

No sugary foods (including most fruit and all sweeteners or anything with added sugar)....fructose consumption seems to cause problems with hunger, especially for my wife.

More starches...GF grains and potatos.. with added fat (butter or ghee) they are very satisfying. Very low carb eating just isn't as satisfying with IF.

Lots of veggies...Go ahead and use vegetables to fill yourself up.

Fatty, not lean, meats or eggs fried in ghee, raw cheese, nuts, anything that is satisfying.

We don't worry about eating too much...neither of us seem to be able to put on bodyfat with a 18/6 eating pattern.

I don't think you need to cut any foods out of your diet...why cut your nutrition to lose weight when it's not necessary?

I'm also 50 and I was also overweight at one point in my life. Here's what I've been doing..I eat 2 meals a day, no snacking or caloric drinks between meals. I train, but not nearly as much as you do. I'm now maintaining about 7-8 percent bodyfat year round. There are several reasons why this works but the main one is, unless you are gluttonous, it is extremely hard to fit an entire days calories into 2 meals. Also, if you eat less often you will spend more time burning fat.

My wife and I both thrive on this lifestyle...she's also very lean now..enough to see abs at 49 years of age.

We eat our first meal at 2PM and we eat again at 6-7 PM....The rest of the day we fast....we even train fasted. We eat a very rich, semi low carb diet..Real butter/ghee, real cream, organic eggs 6-8 a day, meat daily(but not a lot), home made, full fat kefir, oatmeal or porridge, cultured and raw vegetables, fruit (not a lot). No calorie counting..

I hope this helps some... :)
