Kania 2011-06-28T21:08:04Z 2011-06-28T21:08:04Z
Thought I would chime in since I asked the question. More so than "how" I am wondering "should" I add some vegetables back in. I have severe, severe digestive issues that just have not gone away. I went from a flat stomach to pregnant looking in one day back in 2008 (on a Paleo diet) and have been that way ever since. On ZIOH I was told we don't need good bacteria if we are eating ZC. Now a doctor on ZIOH is saying we DO need them and I need to rebuild gut flora. Not sure how to do that on ZC. Also, I had a very strong reaction to probiotics and fermented foods. It makes all my symtpoms (daily headache, backache, fatigue, constipation, abdominal distention, brain fog, anger issues, trouble concentrating, swollen eye lids, fluid retention, and more) worse. I assume this is die off, but die off usually subsides while my symptoms just continue and after about a week of horrible pain and more I stop taking the probees and ferments.

So what am I worried about? Is adding veggies the best thing to do or will it make things worse? I already know they make the distention worse but I assume that's in the short term? Also worried about weight gain.
http://paleohacks.com/questions/48535/gut-flora-and-zc/67917#67917 Comment by Kania Kania 2011-10-02T11:42:06Z 2011-10-02T11:42:06Z yeah, i am thinking about adding a few veggies back in very slowly to help rebuild gut flora. unfortunately in my case i think the zc diet "may" have done more harm than good. not sure yet. http://paleohacks.com/questions/47112/how-should-one-reintroduce-carbs-after-eating-zero-carb-for-2-years/48220#48220 Comment by Kania Kania 2011-07-01T02:08:52Z 2011-07-01T02:08:52Z Thanks Allie...you're sweet. I won't give up. http://paleohacks.com/questions/47112/how-should-one-reintroduce-carbs-after-eating-zero-carb-for-2-years/48220#48220 Comment by Kania Kania 2011-06-30T01:12:36Z 2011-06-30T01:12:36Z No but I make my own sauerkraut, beet kvass, coconut water kefir, coconut milk kefir, dairy kefir, and water kefir. I have horrible die off from all of them. I tried one drop of sauerkraut brine in my broth and the next day I had such a bad headache and backache I wanted to take a narcotic (I didn't - just sayin'). I know I need to re-build gut flora, the question is how?? http://paleohacks.com/questions/47112/how-should-one-reintroduce-carbs-after-eating-zero-carb-for-2-years/48220#48220 Comment by Kania Kania 2011-06-29T02:14:40Z 2011-06-29T02:14:40Z I absolutely cannot digest nuts. Sweet potatoes would make fungal and bacterial overgrowth worse.
