How much am I missing out?PaleoDel2011-11-13T19:35:43Z2013-06-17T18:54:00Z

I've been eating plenty of Kerrygold butter, which I understand is grass-fed, but not raw. I absolutely love it. But when my grass-fed farmer started carrying raw dairy products, I eagerly bought some raw butter. OMG, I absolutely hated it! I could barely choke down my eggs the next morning. How much nutrition am I missing out on by just eating the delicious Kerrygold grass-fed butter that's not raw? I'm so disappointed that I didn't like the raw.

PaleoDel2012-12-23T17:49:42Z2012-12-23T17:49:42Z
I cut out caffeine when I got pregnant. It was easy to do, as I didn't want my baby to get it. I have to say, I didn't really notice a huge difference after I quit. The paleo diet will give you lots of energy. I didn't notice anything until one day I had a cup of coffee -- WOWEE. THEN I noticed a HUGE difference. Caffeine sure is a powerful drug. I'm doing fine without it. You will too. Get lots of sleep and eat a good diet.

I just want to emphasize how very important it is to get some fish oil in daily. I took fermented clo, fish oil and ate some roe whenever I could. What helped me was a morning smoothie almost every day made with coconut milk, vanilla protein powder, two egg yolks, some grass fed butter and liquid fish oil (mine is orange flavored). Add a little cinnamon and ice, and this was something I could drink every day and fit a lot of nutrients in. For some reason, I had trouble with cooked eggs, so the smoothie solved a lot of problems.

About 8 years ago, my blood levels of D were too small to measure. I never left the house without head-to-toe full-spectrum sunscreen. I had laryngitis for 3 months and recurring systemic candida and sinus infections that would not ever completely clear up, even after adopting a strict grain-free diet. It wasn't until I started supplementing with D that I even began to get my health back. I also allow myself to get sun now. Never will I go back to those times. Right now I'm acting in a period film and cannot get any sun, so supplementing is more important than ever. I'm a big fan of my fermented CLO, but nothing comes close to the difference vitamin D supplementation has made in my life.

I have a beautiful 13-week-old daugher whom I breastfeed and pump/bottle feed. All the "common wisdom" says I need to take in all these extra calories in order to breastfeed, which I have absolutely not found to be true. I have tons of extra milk and a huge freezer stash. Now, there have been a few times lately when I have done an IF kind of by accident. I absolutely had no time to eat until dinner. And I felt GREAT!! I have not found this to diminish my supply at all, but it has only been a couple of times. Does anybody have any experience in this area? I'm still drinking tons of water, and made sure I took some coconut oil today.

I should add that I used to IF before I became pregnant and do miss it.

Any experiences with this greatly appreciated!
