Vitamin C, Glycine, Phosphatidyl Serine, etc...

Personally I use Vitamin C. Great as an anti-oxidant PWO, and helps reduce the cortisol spike. 1-2g works great for me.

Restoring proper magnesium and zinc levels is critical, taking both before bed is optimal for melatonin levels. Be sure to sleep in total darkness, and even keep lights dim before bed, avoiding any stimulants past noon and not doing or watching anything stimulating before bed.

Rooibos tea is great for reducing cortisol, and really helps calm down the nervous system and improve sleep. Re-balancing your cortisol levels is critical to beating insomnia.

Good luck!

Starchy carbs work great PWO, I prefer sweet potatoes. For lower intensity stuff, I find I can last longer when I've loaded on fats as well. Good luck!

Oil of Oregano is great stuff, kills most bugs with a few drops. Garlic has to be mentioned as well, it's taken me out of the deep end more times than I can count.

Most people love feeling tired after a workout, however that's not the best indication that you're getting stronger.

CC will give you moves that increase your strength, and the 2 exercise routines set you up for much better recovery and faster gains. This setup worked great for me and lets me keep fresh enough to let me still do all my other activities without any negative effects or risking over training.

http://paleohacks.com/questions/1876/rooibos-tea-paleo-or-poison/71313#71313Answer by karimoo for Rooibos tea: paleo or poison?karimoo2011-10-19T15:04:39Z2011-10-19T15:04:39Z
I've been drinking Rooibos almost daily for about a year. I never have anything caffeinated anymore, and Rooibos was a great tea substitute for me.

I haven't noticed any adverse affects, however it does have a slight calming effect leading me to believe that it is doing something with my brain-chem/hormones (no claims here). I have had cravings for it at times, but that could just be the good feeling associated with having a hot beverage in a cold place. Either way, I limit it to one cup a day at most and never seem to suffer from it.

Great question btw, interesting responses too.

http://paleohacks.com/questions/70176/adrenal-fatigue/70200#70200Answer by karimoo for adrenal fatigue? karimoo2011-10-13T20:41:00Z2011-10-13T20:41:00Z
I used to be a major caffeine addict, and had adrenal fatigue for quite some time. I cut it out completely a few years back. Now, depending on my diet, insulin levels and exertion amount my energy levels can fluctuate. If I over exercise or eat a ton of carbs, I tend to notice an onset of fatigue. But being Paleo has definitely helped me control it and slowly reverse it as well.

I can very well control my energy now keeping low carb, high fat and using an insulin mimicker on carb loading days. I found after keeping my insulin levels steady, that late afternoon/early evening plunge in energy and the adrenal burst that follows it a few hours later, doesn't occur anymore. My energy is completely constant now, and I'm loving it.

http://paleohacks.com/questions/70007/dairy-intolerance-hydrolyzed-whey-proteinDairy Intolerance - Hydrolyzed Whey Protein?karimoo2011-10-13T01:07:32Z2011-10-13T11:49:29Z

Before I started Paleo, I was using ON's 100% Natural Whey. I was recommended to try Hydrolyzed Whey, as it supposedly doesn't cause any of the problems that come with dairy products (claim of Popeye's Supplements Canada employee).

Has anybody with a diary intolerance tried Hydrolyzed Whey? Any discomfort or problems using it?

http://paleohacks.com/questions/69930/nutrition-for-gaining-weight/69943#69943Answer by karimoo for Nutrition for gaining weightkarimoo2011-10-12T19:23:16Z2011-10-12T19:23:16Z
Listening to your body is almost always the best way to go. Just eat when you're hungry and your body will gradually adjust itself to maintain homeostasis.

Since you're lifting weights and exercising, you won't gain much fat if any, as long as you're eating more protein/fat and not tons more carbs. If you're simply maintaining your weight right now with your current calorie intake, then up your calories by 300-500 a day.
