Anonymous Chump 2013-03-20T23:27:06Z 2013-03-20T23:27:06Z
I get'em by the dozen for free! A person I work with has a farm and she brings me eggs. I have two dozen goose eggs right now, but sometimes she'll bring duck eggs or turkey eggs or, yes, even chicken eggs.
http://paleohacks.com/questions/159661/is-the-potato-protocol-the-latest-rage-in-the-paleo-community Is the Potato Protocol™ the latest rage in the Paleo community? Anonymous Chump 2012-11-05T17:50:28Z 2013-02-27T15:24:29Z
As you can see by my title I've trademarked the term Potato Protocol™ and you must pay me a handsome sum if you wish to use it.

Just joking, of course, but hear me out.....

There is a low rumble right now in parts of the Paleo community that might end up being the latest rage at the rate things are going. (People are reporting success as advertised.) Basically, Ray Cronise has stated that eating ONLY potatoes for 10 to 14 days is quite healthy and a guaranteed way to drop 1/2 to 1 pound per day while on it.

Looks to me like he's saying that it can be a temporary hack to drop pounds, stabilize blood sugar, appetite, etc., and then you can go back to your regular eating ways.

You'll have to sign up on his site to read his comments, but here's the link: http://hypothermics.com/2012/06/no-guts-no-glory-part-2/#comments

People are discussing it on MarksDailyApple.com here: http://www.marksdailyapple.com/forum/thread67137.html

Looks like Richard Nikoley is about to give it a go: http://freetheanimal.com/2012/11/the-latest-diet-exercise-hacking-towards-a-goal.html

Actually, Nikoley has really furthered the discussion quite a bit. See, e.g., http://freetheanimal.com/2012/11/the-potato-diet-hack-observations.html#comments

I have NO experience whatsoever with the Potato Protocol™ but I know a possible hot trend when I see one. Anyone here tried it?

http://paleohacks.com/questions/98475/any-problems-with-blood-pressure-on-paleo/176178#176178 Answer by Anonymous Chump for Any problems with blood pressure on Paleo? Anonymous Chump 2013-01-27T20:03:09Z 2013-01-27T20:03:09Z
My blood pressure rose noticeably on paleo when I first started out. I closely adhered to the version of paleo espoused in Robb Wolf's book. Before starting it, my BP was consistently 115/75 or so but was consistently 130/85 or higher after. I was good condition both before and after starting eating paleo. I stuck faithfully to the version that I believed Robb was touting for nearly two years. Maybe I was reading the book wrong, who knows. I felt great before starting paleo and I continued to feel great afterwards.

Anyway, to shorten this tale, my BP came back down once I added back in a good amount of "safe starches." I was tested yesterday, as a matter of fact, and it was 113/74. Two months ago, it was 109/76.

My layman guess is that being so low carb "stressed" my body in some way and caused my BP to go up. It's not like I got up to an unsafe level, though. I think.
http://paleohacks.com/questions/175898/what-do-you-think-of-jack-kruses-emf-2-blogpost/176162#176162 Answer by Anonymous Chump for What do you think of Jack Kruse's EMF 2 blogpost? Anonymous Chump 2013-01-27T19:00:17Z 2013-01-27T19:00:17Z
To answer the specific question in the title, I think it's a load of BS.

I absolutely am in favor of all people finding success and happiness. I say this because I'm continually amazed that people credit Kruse when he posts stuff like that. It's just crazy, in my opinion, that people don't see what an attention-craving nutter he is, and how his writing is a bunch of crap.

[I'll probably come back and edit this out, because I don't love writing stuff like this, but at this moment I sit here amazed that Kruse hasn't gone away yet. I'm surely not attacking or questioning anyone who would defend him and who the hell knows, maybe I'll some day come around to realizing the value in what he writes.]

Again, I am happy for everyone who finds success and happiness. The bigger me understands and accepts that some people seemingly find something of value from what he writes. I just don't see how.
http://paleohacks.com/questions/170818/what-is-the-most-paleo-breed-of-dog/170854#170854 Answer by Anonymous Chump for What is the most paleo breed of dog? At least that's my understanding of it. http://paleohacks.com/questions/169427/p-h-d-yolks-but-no-egg-whites-perfect-health-diet/169430#169430 Comment by Anonymous Chump Anonymous Chump 2012-12-28T18:55:48Z 2012-12-28T18:55:48Z That's an egssceptional question, Mike. The only comparable eggsperience I have along those lines is the raw yolks that I sometimes throw in the smoothies that I sometimes make. There is always a small amount of raw whites that go in as well. I've never had any problems with the whites, though your mileage may vary. http://paleohacks.com/questions/169066/ldl-and-cholesterol-again/169116#169116 Comment by Anonymous Chump Anonymous Chump 2012-12-26T02:08:03Z 2012-12-26T02:08:03Z I got my blue belt in 2005 (might have been 2004). Please be extra careful with how you proceed. You're in a different risk category than most of us here. You maybe need to consult closely with a cardiologist. I'm just worried that you're going to get advice here that doesn't take your specific situation into full consideration. http://paleohacks.com/questions/160220/how-can-i-significantly-improve-my-time-for-a-3-mile-run-in-4-months/160239#160239 Comment by Anonymous Chump Anonymous Chump 2012-11-09T00:13:16Z 2012-11-09T00:13:16Z Intervals. Reading what Cronise actually wrote, this really doesn't allow any room for tweaks, if that's what the non-weight-losers indeed did. http://paleohacks.com/questions/153894/my-small-ldl-is-dropping-but-my-ldl-is-staying-the-same-should-i-be-concerned/159330#159330 Comment by Anonymous Chump Anonymous Chump 2012-11-03T22:07:11Z 2012-11-03T22:07:11Z Large LDL particles are nothing to worry about and actually may be protective? Not calling you wrong, but are there cites for this? I've been reading Chris Masterjohn and have taken what he writes as authoritative, and he doesn't write that. Again, not saying you're wrong. Just questioning it.
