Have you tried tempeh? It's a fermented soy product. It's not flavor-neutral like tofu, but the taste isn't too strong or strange. I like it...but then again, I'm a natto fiend. :) http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Tempeh (more)

I live in South East Asia, and I was wondering about the possible substitution of meat with tempeh from Indonesia. It is made from fermented soybeans. Does tempeh have lectins and is tempeh considered a healthy food in the paeleolithic diet?

This Mark Sisson article doesn't specify the lectin content, but does list tempeh as a vegetarian option. The Paleo Weight Loss Coach says don't eat it. John Robbins doesn't seem quite so concerned. So, there's no universal agreement! (more)

Fermented soy is okay, in my book. What Matt said. Don't let it hold you back. I'm allergic (read: sensitive) to both soy and wheat, and soy sauce never bothers me.
