Makes sense to me. A more concentrated source of omega-3s than grass even. Also seems to benefit the cow to some degree. Just as omega-3s tend to decrease inflammation in humans, the same occurs in cattle. They don't get as sick as often, and... (more)

I like to have control over the ingredients I eat. You can make your own Paleo breakfast "cereal". Here's one I like: http://www.marmaladeandmileposts.com/archives/21240. (Skip the xylitol and use the Paleo sweetener of your choice). (more)

Does anyone know if bread made from flaxseed meal (less than 1 carb a piece) helps with cholesterol? The recipe called for 5 eggs and 2 cups flaxseed meal. Made 12 pieces. 5 grams fiber and 6 grams protein a slice. About food.com. It was great. (more)

So, I fancy spicing up my egg-and-bananas diet with some real cooking, but I'm on a pretty tight budget. Which is better for cooking with (I'm also trying to be somewhat calorie concious), flaxseed or almond meal?

Could you get sweet potato flour instead? They are less inflammatory and not too expensive or coconut flour...almonds just have such a high omega-6 ratio. I think flaxseed should be minimized in intake as well.

What are the best eggs to buy? I know pastures and bug fed are ideal according to PaleoApproved. This raises the omega 3 ratio. Can't find bug fed eggs in NYC. But flaxseed fed pastured also have high omega 3. Discuss.

The omega-3 in commercial flax-fed eggs usually has alpha linoleic acid (ALA) which isn't well used by humans -- conversion to usable omega 3 is low. Obviously pastured eggs are the best. When I can't get them I go for free range, and up my... (more)

There are phyto-estrogens in flaxseeds, much like soy. I don't know of any studies to cite, but my nutrition instructor told us that she worked once at a gym specifically for women who were on soy protein and flax shakes and having a lot of issues... (more)
