If you had a choice between eating some nuts, and eating some fruit, which would you choose? Also, which do you think is a better snack, if you only had those two choices? Just wondering what people's perspectives on this are. Thanks. :) (more)

My recommendation is to test these things out on yourself when a lot ISN'T on the line. As a matter of fact, I recommend everyone try and stay awake at least a couple days solid at least once, just to see how it affects you/feels. Many... (more)

Recently, having been paleo for about two years, my diet has, I might say, broken into pieces, or rather deconstructed in a sense, meaning: for dinner tonight I had oysters, almonds, a cucumber, a banana, and a couple pieces dark chocolate. I... (more)

A food terrorist is what I am. At least that's the joke when folks comment on my society challenging meal timings and combinations. Today it was a few comments on my breakfast of liver with onions, my own mirepoix, and potatoes. That happens to... (more)

The days are getting shorter, the nights longer, and the weather more cold and wet. Should there be any seasonal variations in paleo (certain foods? ratios?)? Is there anything one should have more or less of in the autumn/winter months?

It comes down to individualized goals. But as a general rule of thumb, stick to seasonal fruits and vegetables. You're right, and there has been a lot of study (especially some outstanding talks at the AHS) about the body's natural fructose... (more)

My son just turned 2 and I've been thinking it is time to start teaching him about food. I wanted to see what his "baseline" was for what he considers to be good food so I set him free in the grocery store and just followed him with a basket. In... (more)

I did. My mom was strict and raised me mostly on 'real' food (although we did eat whole grains and pasta) and I was a picky eater from age 2 or so onward - only liked what I was used to eating at home, and that was whole fruit and veg (mom... (more)

I'm not a parent or anything, but I feel like having junk toy food wouldn't hurt anything. She's not actually consuming it or experiencing the taste (or smell) so I feel like she isn't being drawn to junk food over paleo food. Making your own is... (more)
