I hear a lot of people exercise because of weight, and while that has in past been a challenge for me, I legitimately love endurance racing--running, biking, swimming--and competing in events. I love cardio because I love the way it makes me feel.... (more)

It is quite obvious why you cannot fuel your cardio workouts. Lack of CARBS. Don't buy into the low carb paleo dogma, eat more carbs if you exercise a lot. Sweet potatoes and bananas are not carb dense enough for lots of exercise, they are both... (more)

So I've been Paleo for 4 months. And I've been off running for 9 months, silly stress fracture and doctor's orders. But, now I'm looking at kicking it back up and doing another half marathon next year. So I'm curious now about combining the 2. I... (more)

I mostly run 5K-10 mile races, I tried coconut water. In the past I had used GU. It did not go well. Too sweet, gave me cramps (which I did not think it would). Bananas, which previously I loathed, have become a great friend, especially... (more)

Omigosh, fun FTW! Okay, yes, it's fuel -- I love feeling healthy and nourished, and for once in my life, I feel like I am in tune with my body and the signals it is sending me. It feels amazing! But again, for the first time in my life, I'm... (more)

Has anyone tasted Mark Sisson's Primal Fuel? I did. My friend and I had an "official" taste test with the sample packs Mark sent out for $5.95. The results? Not good. My initial thought was, "Wow, this is $99 protein. I bet it tastes... (more)

I thought it was fine as a quick meal for those times when you are running out of the house and just don't have time to make a decent meal. It is not a replacement for real food, but I thought it tasted fine, not too sweet. I don't add as much... (more)

Anyone ever attempt to make their own Primal Fuel? I'm referring to this one if it wasn't obvious -- http://primalblueprint.com/products/Primal-Fuel.html

I haven't made a ready-mix powder like Primal Fuel, but I was making whey protein shakes with coconut milk long before Sisson came out with his product. The base is a scoop of pure whey protein isolate, a few ounces of canned coconut milk, and... (more)

I think it's just the same story repeated by someone who read it somewhere else, who in turn just read it somewhere else. Does the body produce its own alcohol when alcohol gets too low? No, it doesn't. Glucose is a unique fuel and essential to... (more)

It's been about 15 years since I did long distance hiking/biking but I can share what worked for me then. In my case, but I don't know if it's rare/common/universal, if I was fit enough to hike 10 or more miles I was already somewhat adapted to... (more)

What's your thoughts? For meals on the run when you work in the emergency business when its difficult to prep food for constantly being a truck for up to 12-16 hours daily.
