powdered gelatin with food or on empty stomach?

There seem to be two schools of thought on this. Ray Peat suggests taking with food, especially with a meal containing muscle meat, to balance out the amino acids. Others recommend taking on an empty stomach which supposedly makes the collagen more directly absorbable.

Does anyone have experience or knowledge about this you could share? Thanks.

I agree in theory, but the counter argument is outlined here: http://naturopathic-physician.com/index.php?page=73

I had some gelatin in my elderberry/red raspberry tea this morning. I also put some coconut sugar in it for carbs and then worked out. So that's close to an empty stomach without food. I felt great. I love the way gelatin makes me feel, so relaxing because of the anti-stress affect. It definitely keeps cortisol down and raises your T levels. Ray peat has some gems in his diet like the gelatin but a lot of his stuff is flawed.

I usually take supplements with food just because I don't see how we would ever take a single nutrient/mineral/vitamin on its own in nature. just seems weird to me. like, let's go find some collagen and eat that on its own.
