Regina - a great resource for you is the Weston Price foundation. They have several recipes for making baby formula from cow and goat milk. Though you are moving beyond the formula stage, the recipes are fascinating, with lots of explanations of... (more)

Mucous from dairy is a sign of intolerance. I would drop it or try raw dairy. Other foods that help with cavities are liver, shellfish, grassfed ghee (you can make your own from grassfed butter,) bone marrow, etc. You don't have to eat dairy... (more)

As with raw dairy, goat dairy is not magic. If you react to it, don't consume it. Dairy, though tasty, is not necessary for human health.

This sounds typical to me. Many people switch to paleo relatively abruptly. After decades of adaptation to a different diet paleo is expected to immediately give perfect health and energy. That is never true, as far as i have seen. The quicker one... (more)

I've tried to source grass-fed cow's milk where I live (Ottawa, Canada) and it is not available at all. But I can easily get organic goat's milk and I'm wondering if this would be sort of 'automatically' grass-fed. I'm looking for a breastmilk... (more)

Nope, not automatically grass-fed. Just as commercial cow dairy is likely factory farmed, commercial goat dairy is as well, maybe a smidgen better. People will try and hype up raw milk. Be very careful, you have to really know your source, their... (more)

I have a 1 year old pale baby/toddler, he eats everything we put in front of him. But we are going to stay true to Paleo. What is next after breast milk? Will he just drop it and be on 100% food? I know there is goat, coconut and almond milk... (more)

Without seeking to be prescriptive, I'll share my understanding on it. Historically milk sits in an unusual place. It's not a completely alien food, in fact it is by definition the most essential food for all mammals when we're young. But we... (more)

Can you use goats milk or does that still have the same proteins that cause the problem in cows milk?

If you're talking about the A1/A2 proteins, then goat does not have the "bad" protein. I can tolerate goat milk and I drink a lot of it, while I cannot touch cow's. I can't even touch the raw cow milk with the "good" protein in it.

Which do you think is better (healthier) for me in your morning coffee or tea if you like a creamy cup? Please note I do not like coconut milk or eggs in my coffee. And do you know if they make heavy cream from goats?

Cream is cream and milk is milk. Given how much you're actually going to add, the difference in your health between the two is miniscule. Use the one that makes the tastier coffee.

If you have a general casein intolerance, and not just alpha-S1 casein (which is the primary casein form in cow's milk), switching to goat milk won't help you. Same if you have a sensitivity to beta-lactoglobulin. Plus it's f***ing expensive. ... (more)
