I make grass-fed beef jerky and sell it in Iowa. In order to have "grass-fed" on the label, I have to get an affidavit from the beef producer that states the beef was always fed grass and never grain. nomadjerky.com

Lard (pork fat) normally has preservatives (BHT). I know Tesco's does in the UK (it's on the label). Beef drippings are normally free of additives since it is more shelf stable, but it's difficult to know the quality of the animal it came from.... (more)

Here's some ideas: Hard-boiled eggs and smoked salmon. Almonds and raspberries. Uncured sausages or sandwich meats. Pre-made cobb salad (if you're doing dairy). Beware of wheat and preservatives in the grocery-store roast chicken. (more)

I've heard that some salmon is just tilapia (which is ridiculous). I can get these frozen packages of salmon for about $1.30 for 4 ounces of salmon. That's about $5.20/lb. Is this too good to be true? Here's their site. http://yiheseafood.com/ (more)
