I would recommend adding back in some carbs. Some in the Paleo community demonize carbohydrates, but they are not evil. Also, some people do not respond as well to VLC. it can have an affect on hormone production as well. I would not go back... (more)

I've had idiopathic, isolated systolic hypertension for about 7-8 years now. This basically means it's a high reading of the systolic reading that can't be attributed to any medical cause. I've talked about it more in depth here A short time ago... (more)

Have you been checked for sleep apnea? Prevalence is known to be very high with low diagnosis rate because only the most extreme cases are easily recognized (and sometimes not even then, like in my case). My blood pressure was almost always in the... (more)

I'm 28, male, 6'1 and about 85kg (~187 lbs). I've had primary/essential systolic hypertension for about 8 years, primary hypertension means that it is considered asymptomatic, I've tested negative to all tests that can determine HBP. I have been... (more)

Boy do I have the goods on this one. And your "essential/idiopathic hypertension" can be fixed - but you need some information about yourself. Here's how we did it: My guy, who is 30 years old and has 8% bodyfat from daily swimming and paleo... (more)

Personally my husband and I have had on the lower end of blood pressure (as low as 100/50) so we never watched salt intake. We love Himalayan salt. See the nice little U-shaped curve for sodium excretion in urine vs. hazard ratio. "A 2011 study... (more)

I, too, had blood pressure issues. It was recommended to me to eat more foods with potassium (prunes, avocados, etc.) on a daily basis. This small change for me has helped a lot (I now completely off BP meds!) Good luck!
