I live in South East Asia, and I was wondering about the possible substitution of meat with tempeh from Indonesia. It is made from fermented soybeans. Does tempeh have lectins and is tempeh considered a healthy food in the paeleolithic diet?

This Mark Sisson article doesn't specify the lectin content, but does list tempeh as a vegetarian option. The Paleo Weight Loss Coach says don't eat it. John Robbins doesn't seem quite so concerned. So, there's no universal agreement! (more)

I used to give my old dog glucosamine. It worked miracles for his joint pain. Others have experienced similar results and clinical trials have back up its efficacy. But does anyone know how/why exactly it works?

Wheat doesn't want to be eaten: it contains substances that irritate your gut lining so it becomes inflamed. An inflamed gut can't absorb other nutrients properly, and may also allow toxic substances to leak into your system.... (more)

They are glycoproteins. Proteins (chains of amino acids) with a sugar attached. I don't know much about immunology but as a layman I would suspect that your body doesn't have any problems manufacturing antibodies out of some amino acids and sugar... (more)
