I stumbled across this article on Facebook via one of the relatives of this Thousand Oaks, CA woman who just turned 107. Imagine my paleo delight when I read the phrase (bolded below) about bacon grease. Haha. Does anyone else stumble across these... (more)

My friends aunt is in her 90's. For 30 years she has a hot dog and an orange soda from the vendor near her apartment three times a week for lunch. She eats candy and chocolates and generally very typical SAD food. Probably worse than most. Some... (more)

I'll admit it; I do. I'll be clean for 5 or 6 days, and then I'll succumb to Chick-Fil-A. Then the next week, maybe some rice and beans. The next week, pizza. Nine months paleo, but I will honestly say I haven't gone 30 days gluten free, at the... (more)

I had a terrific 12 months on primal/ancestral which was amazing after 40 years of binge eating. I then hit several months of severe family-related stress and totally lost it--a 4-month binge during which I regained all the weight I'd lost. I'm... (more)

I wonder if our bones break less easily after long term paleo eating. Propper nutrition through paleo eating should strengthen the bones, shouldn't it? What did you experieance?

In my research, I have found that paleo does not fully protect collarbones from flying over the handlebars and doing a faceplant down the side of a mountain.

I've been eating paleo (with IF) for more than two years, high-fat paleo for almost 1.5 years, and 6 months ago I decreased exercise and protein intake and added root vegetables. I am currently suffering from a number of symptoms, which appear to... (more)

I'm surprised that nobody else has picked up on this so far, but I would stop the If-ing ASAP as this can put your body under unnecessary stress, especially if you started before achieving correct hormonal environment. The hyperphagia is probably... (more)

Background: I have Crohn's Disease and on August 1, 2009 started eating ZC/VLC. I was pretty strict meat only for a month or two and then started adding in some dairy such as cheese and heavy cream. My goal was zero starch, zero fiber, zero carb,... (more)

When I first started living the paleo lifestyle, I found that eating tons of meat (ribeyes) fat (rendered tallow, lard and coconut oil) and lots of veggies really seemed to kill any cravings I had for sugar. I was so seldom hungry that I didn't... (more)

Eating very low carb long term, or doing lots of high intensity training, or stress/lack of sleep can all kind of backfire and re-trigger sugar cravings. You should try re-incorporating more safe carbs into your diet such as sweet potatoes, beets,... (more)

How has this diet been for those who have it done it a minimum of a year? What do you like about it, result wise, and what results haven't you liked?

How long has everyone been Paleo? Have you cheated at all? Start, then stop, then start again? What did you eat before? low carb, or SAD, or what? Has it changed your life dramatically? I have been Lacto-Paleo for over 2 years now. I started... (more)

I started Paleo in the summer of 2007 after several years of yo-yo dieting; mostly calorie and fat restriction, a-la Weight Watchers. I initially lost 32 pounds. That fall during the holidays I regressed back to the SAD and gained back that 32... (more)

I've been on a Paleo diet for almost 4 months now. By far, the Paleo diet has been the easiest to stick to. I've lost 17 lbs., have all sorts of energy, and just had the best lipid panel of my life. As many of you know, 90% of diets fail and... (more)

I weighed in @ 32% body fat in May, my short term goal is to have lost %3 body fat by August. In the long-run, I strive to get down to 18-19% body fat. I made the switch to being paleo about five months ago, and although my progress is undeniable,... (more)
