There's a much higher incidence of injury doing flat sprints vs. hill sprints. On a steep hill you can't really get going that fast, but you're exerting yourself to the same extent. Since the goal is the exertion, not the speed, it's a much better... (more)

Start a food diary. Fitday.com, dailyburn.com, homemade excel sheet, whatever. You can't get to where you want to be without first knowing where you are now. Get a baseline of your daily caloric intake.

I'm not an expert, but perhaps you're eating a bit too much protein? I'd make sure most of your plate is filled with veggies and just one serving (palm size) of protein.
