Check out Sam Feltham's 21 Day 5,000 Calorie Challenge... as he eats a Paleo diet! I don't know if he ever says "Paleo" but that's the kind of foods he's eating on this experiment. The high calorie numbers say he should gain weight, but given... (more)
Hi everyone, I am sorry to ask a question that is so similar to a few others that have already been answered. I just feel that my individual symptoms can't be accuretly answered by reading another persons thread. I am a 24 year old man. I work 5... (more)
Hello all! So I've been trying to lose weight for about 3 years. So I'm 5'7, and about 160 pounds. Very curvy and muscular, (especially in the legs...think of a chubbier Beyonce lol) and I've found it very hard to lose fat, but very easy to gain... (more)
Hello! Quick breakdown: 21 y/o male (very soon-to-be-22), ~5'10" height, ~34" waist, ~197 pounds (was like 202 a few days ago. before that, I don't know. never been much more than that.) This will be my third week completed on a paleo-styled diet.... (more)
Carb cycling is probably a good idea unless you're trying to keto-adapt. Alas, pizza and Chinese are more omega-6 fat bombs than they are carb bombs...even potatoes tend to turn into fat bombs once you actually cook them up (mashed potatoes, home... (more)
Hello all, I am a very overweight man in my late 30s. My wife and I live on our sailboat in the Boston area. I started trying to loose weight with a goal of loosing 200 pounds on July 15th. When I started, I just began by logging my food using... (more)
I am on my third week of straight paleo and I feel terrible! I am constantly nauseas and feel like I might throw up, I have felt this for a week now and am unsure of what is causing it. I am eating low carb (<50g), but still occasionally eat... (more)
I have read many of the related threads and am quite confused. I am 5'4", 150 pounds, spent 15 years as (health food) vegetarian (I know, gasp, started eating meat a year ago), had three pregnancies, and I am still nursing. I have been on paleo... (more)
During nursing, the body needs to consume at minimum 300+ calories per day just to maintain. If you are not eating enough, your body will do its best to limit fat loss for survival. If you experiment with upping your food amount, you might feel... (more)
This is a great website. Thanks for all the help so far. So I cut out the chocolate, processed foods, fruit, had 21 days of withdrawal (day 21 was worst), candida die off etc etc. The cravings stopped. Brilliant. None of the daily trips to the... (more)
I'm not an expert, but perhaps you're eating a bit too much protein? I'd make sure most of your plate is filled with veggies and just one serving (palm size) of protein.
The q says it all... I hear high fiber foods are good for us women out there? Things like beans, edamames, etc.... Any other high fiber foods that are good..? All to help out in weight loss, of course.
I have twice in my life lost 100lbs through essentially a low-carb diet and exercise. I am once again at that point of needing to lose that much again. I keep it off for about 5 years or more each time. I always go back to neglecting watching what... (more)
I've been VLC Paleo for 6 weeks. I was already gluten and dairy free. I am also practicing IF -- my eating window is 2pm to 8pm. I was excited to weigh myself after the first 4 weeks, expecting some fabulous weight loss results. I lost 4 pounds. I... (more)
hi there, I have been doing Paleo for a few months now, and I have a few questions I can't seem to find the right answer to. I do CrossFit 4-5 days / week and want to build muscle, which I am seeing great results. However, I don't seem to be... (more)
Hi, I'm on day 14 of my whole 30. I've cheated here and there (alcohol/increasing fruit intake) but have tried to stay pretty strict. My reasons for trying paleo were to improve my energy level, decrease gastrointestinal upsets and bloating, and... (more)
People go on VLC diets mainly for weight loss (IMHO) - are there any people here still on the VLC diet AFTER achieving their weight loss goal?? IF yes can you describe how you shifted to maintainence.
I am very new to Paleo. I am on my 3rd week and I started out slow in this new lifestyle. I stayed consistently at 120 for 2 weeks straight. Every day learning and trying to eat strict Paleo plus working out every day. Over the weekend I had a... (more)
It's 3 pounds. THREE pounds! It could be water. Obsessing over three pounds is not good for you, nor is it conducive to healthy eating. Maybe your scale is three pounds off. And you wouldn't gain that over night.
Is eating too much fat counterproductive when you're trying to lose weight on the Primal/Paleo diet? I usually add butter, lard or coconut oil to everything I cook, plus I eat a couple handfuls of nuts at night. I'm not losing weight
Hi! I've been away from paleohacks and also the paleo diet for over a year, as I have been working as a vegetarian chef at a yoga resort in India, and have been eating mostly vegan during this time. I can't help but notice that no matter how... (more)
I have been on the Paleo diet for six weeks now. So far the results are fairly positive...I've lost 11 pounds to date..I feel wonderful...I'm actually sleeping through the night, have no more acid reflux, my stomach doesn't hurt when I eat a meal... (more)
The average weight loss is a useless number in this situation since everyone is different. You should expect your weight to eventually get to your optimal weight, and stay there provided you stay paleo. The number isn't really important.
Hello. I am 30 and 185lbs 5'4. I started Paleo 2 months ago and I was at 190 when I started. Also my BMI/Fat% and measurements are still pretty much the same. I have always ate pretty healthy and mild exercise but I really decided to give it my... (more)

Your initial weight loss is fast and then it will trim down. However, if you are overcoming really bad eating and exercise habits. Rejoice at your initial success and let more come. Nevertheless, it slows to about 1.5 pounds a week, or thereabouts. (more)
