It's 3 pounds. THREE pounds! It could be water. Obsessing over three pounds is not good for you, nor is it conducive to healthy eating. Maybe your scale is three pounds off. And you wouldn't gain that over night.

Is eating too much fat counterproductive when you're trying to lose weight on the Primal/Paleo diet? I usually add butter, lard or coconut oil to everything I cook, plus I eat a couple handfuls of nuts at night. I'm not losing weight

The average weight loss is a useless number in this situation since everyone is different. You should expect your weight to eventually get to your optimal weight, and stay there provided you stay paleo. The number isn't really important.

Your initial weight loss is fast and then it will trim down. However, if you are overcoming really bad eating and exercise habits. Rejoice at your initial success and let more come. Nevertheless, it slows to about 1.5 pounds a week, or thereabouts. (more)
