My husband and I eat on $300ish a month. We get our meat from a local, grass-fed rancher. Availability and costs vary from region to region. Cost of living is very low where I live, but that's offset by the very low income most people here... (more)

Everyone keeps talking about "grass-fed beef" and other luxuries of the middle-class & super-wealthy, but I simply cannot afford it. And when I say I can't afford it, I don't mean "it would interfere with my wine of the month subscription", I... (more)

Some people take "Paleo" way too far. No electricity? No internet? Give me a break. Buy big, fatty, tough cuts of meat: pork shoulder, beef chuck, shanks, whatever. And buy a crockpot. It will change your life. Buy frozen vegetables/fruit. Forget... (more)

It's really not that hard. While I don't actually live in Manhattan, I'm not very far. You can hit the farmer's market at Union Square and other places, there are several vendors there that sell grassfed beef and tons of veggies/fruit/etc. ... (more)

Looking at your list I have a few suggestions. Coconut flour is a fun ingredient for making paleo treats, but it's not exactly a nutritional powerhouse and it is very expensive. I would skip that. Because you are buying conventional meats rather... (more)

33$ and some change. Hm. In California, there's no tax on foods, so that definitely helps. Where I live, sweet potatoes are 78 cents a pound. Regular potatoes are 48 cents a pound. Eggs are about a 1.80$ per dozen. Ground beef is about three... (more)
