Well what do you think is going on? You're hungry! GO get your macadamia butter and whatever you crave, you don't have to skip your work out if you like it, muscle mass is always a good thing. Good luck!

Looking for some n=1 accounts of macadamia nut consumption. I know I've gotten carried away before and eaten quite a bit and felt icky but even then I'm not sure it was the nuts or the excess. In theory, they're an excellent food source. Also... (more)

Sorry about another stupid question, but here it goes... I am currently on all-meat diet due to SIBO bacteria reduction. I have just finished my antibiotics and I am doing surprisingly well on my all meat diet. If somebody told me that even six... (more)

More fat may help with the constipation. Can you get lard or tallow, duck fat, bacon fat? You might ask where you get your meat. You can order it online if need be. Glad you are feeling better. All meat seems to work really well for some... (more)

I was very disappointed in costco today, their bulk canisters of Macadamias disappeared, and the staff says it has gone inactive at all stores. This was a staple PALEO snack of mine and especially wanted it for the holidays. It would be much more... (more)

Nuts.com is a godsend for this very reason. Reasonable prices and fast shipments, for what it's worth.

In terms of boosting HDL cholesterol and protecting the heart, are there any differences between raw macadamias and roasted? Are the monounsaturated fats damaged by the roasting process? Also, macadamia's contain saturated fats - anyone know... (more)

The quick answer is "No, it does not really make a difference". A short expansion on why not.. is that mac nut fat is about 80-85% monounsaturated and about 10-15% saturated. With less than 5% room in there for poly, there is very little to... (more)

Does anyone know what the phytic acid content of macadamias is? I have been looking everywhere but I haven't found a thing. They are the only nut that doesn't seem to give me any digestive issues at all.

I spent a bit of time searching for this information as macadamia are abundant and cheap where I'm from. From the abstract of this study: Populations whose dietary staples consist primarily of foods of plant seeds origin, such as beans, maize,... (more)

There's some concern that stovetop cooking with Olive oil at best destroys the healthful benefits, other than Omega-3 fatty acids, and at worst creates toxic compounds. I tried chicken broth and it sort of works but burns quickly. I was curious... (more)

Macadamia Nut Oil is the new Olive Oil. It's the best cooking oil out there. It's got a high smoke point, it tastes amazing, has low omega-6 fatty acids, but it high in palmitoleic acid. It's also incredibly stable, and is 80% monounsaturated... (more)

I'm pretty sure that if you stored them in your freezer (tightly sealed, to prevent that awful freezer taste) they would keep and not go rancid over the course of a year. Meh, macadamia nuts are about 12.50$ a pound where I am (dry roasted). I'm... (more)

I find the $10 per pound macadamia prices too steep, so I figure maybe they would be cheaper if I purchased them unshelled. Any ideas on where one could do this?

In Australia, we pay about $20 per kilo, or ~$10 per pound. If you go for organic nuts at specialty shops, the price is quite a bit higher. And for people living in Queensland, the price can be very low, in pick-your-own situations.

I like Trader Joe's CA Estate EVOO. I think it's about 6 bucks and extremely flavorful with a spicy backbite that's indicative of high polyphenols. Good stuff.

These bars were my favourite on the go snack. They were low sugar, sweetened with honey, loaded with fat from macadamia and coconut, and delicious. I thought I had found the perfect paleo snack - the world is cruel.

I sometimes dip in an egg-wash followed by crushed porkrinds to get the crunch. Parmesan added to this is divine if you're a dairy eater.

Macadamia nuts are extremely expensive, and very caloric dense.. Do they contain any vitamins/minerals that I can't get elsewhere? In eggs, greens, berries etc?

I don't eat white potatoes or pork, so I guess I should keep the macadamia nuts to up my B1 level then :)
