It's only low energy if you don't eat enough calories. The ratio itself doesn't matter. Protein may be a bit high… but you don't give any idea what your goals are with such a diet. 20:40:40 is probably good for most folks.

Okay so aside from the flood of answers I'll get about how carbs cause insulin issues and diabetes, and how fat is the most metabolically benign macronutrient, AND how I should stop obsessing over macro ratios... what do you think?... (more)

Just speaking for myself, when I eat carbs above about 125-150g per day it's like a switch to turn on the weight gain. Doesn't really matter if I'm exercising or not, it just starts to pack the weight around my waist. Recently I was working... (more)

Speaking strictly from a health/longevity standpoint (not aiming for weight loss/gain, don't care)... Would it be better to get more carbs than necessary or more protein than necessary? I find that it's pretty difficult to fulfill... (more)

I guess it depends what your goal is. Ideally you want to count your proteins in grams (IMO), carbs and fats are just a see-saw so it really doesn't matter as far as weight in grams go, unless you're trying to maintain something like ketosis. (more)
