Hello paleo hackers, So I have been paleo for about 6 months and have not seen any weightloss yet. I thought I was eating perhaps too much and too many carbs. So started using cronometer and have tracked and made an effort reducing carbs... (more)
I am trying to improve my understanding so as to overcome a fat loss plateau. I'm interested to know if anyone knows if there is any good evidence that says it's best to eat fat/protein/veg at particular times of day. I'm persuaded that meat... (more)
Hi all, I know cheese and dairy in general are a gray area in Paleo. However, should you decide for its consumption, what types of cheese are in terms of macros the most interesting? I am aware its best to have cheese made from raw, full-fat... (more)
I'm following a higher carb version of Paleo that includes starches like white rice and potatoes and high sugar fruits (I moderate the fructose intake). I find that starch fuels my workouts amazingly but doesn't boost my mental acuity as much.... (more)
Everyone is different. In this respect, I recommend trying a couple N=1 experiments where for a couple weeks, you limit fruit and increase your starchy vegetable consumption, and then try the opposite for a couple weeks.
Does anyone have an accurate source for the macros of purple sweet potatoes? I'm interested in both the purple skin/white flesh and white skin/purple flesh varieties. I've seen both ~86 and ~130 calories per 100g thrown around, with little... (more)
Fat-lovers advise us to fast at least occasionally. Depleting readily available glucose causes the body to burn fat, leading to fat-adaptation and all manner of good outcomes. Conventional-wisdom carb-lovers advise us to never fast. Depleting... (more)
Okay, straight up, I'm new to this. I'm coming from 80/10/10 high carb raw vegan (yeah I know what you're thinking), so I'm about 1 month into Paleo now. I'm doing a ton of research daily, but I don't know if I'm really getting the whole picture,... (more)
I'm keen on becoming fat adapted, but when I research it all I can find are people looking to get into ketosis (which personally, I'm not interested in) I was wondering if it was possible to become fat adapted while keeping carbs at 100-150g? Is... (more)
I want to collect a diverse sampling of what foods people rely on, and see if any good or new ideas come up, as well as to just get a feel for what the community seems to prefer. Please format your answer as follows protein: x food fibrous... (more)
I've seen and tried all types of different ratios for macronutrients (protein, fat, carbs)such as 50/30/20, 25/35/40, but I always end up cheating, going carb crazy and eating non pale foods for the whole weekend. I have a serious issue with portion... (more)

i don't think you're counting calories accurately, but low calories will not have any impact on your ability to enter ketosis. i mean, you enter ketosis when you're starving to death.
to OPTIMIZE the performance of ones explosive training or heavy lifting or even hypertrophy work, eating the lowest amount of protein\fat required(and not being deficient in any way) and filling the rest of the calories with carbs would be... (more)
Do you eat the same foods or macro ratios every day, or change things around? And how often? In terms of overall food intake (by calories, if you like) I think it's good to vary your intake, some days eating more to boost metabolism, some days... (more)

Recently heard on Robb Wolf's podcast that the insulin released after eating carbs can lower cortisol, making it easier to fall asleep. So, evening starch could be good.
I have been drinking lots of kale smoothies with kale, cucumber, celery and avocado. I would think that these smoothies are largely fulfilling my need for vitamins and minerals. As for macronutrients, I was wondering how grass fed beef jerky and... (more)
