might depend on the type of magnesium used?? different types tend to have different effects ie citrate tends to be a bit laxative, and malate might increase stomach acid... maybe that gave you the symptoms you experienced? no clue im not a... (more)

Like the others said, loose stools <> magnesium sufficient. If you want to know for sure, you need to get tested. If it turns out you are magnesium deficient, and supplements cause problems, look into transdermal magnesium sprays.
