Heart - is it muscle meat or organ meat?

The heart is an organ but, as a pump, it is also a very strong muscle, so how would you categorize the meat?

I thought it tasted more like meat than offal. Very tasty, though, anyway.

Both. It's all just food. Last night the chopped duck heart, gizzard and liver all went onto the pan with sausage and butter. It would take a rocket scientist to sort out the offa from the muscle meat. But I believe it was healthy. It also tasted good so I'll be making more.

It is cardiac muscle, which has a different grain structure than muscle meat (intercalcated discs).

Liver by comparison is made mostly of hepatocytes, kidneys mostly composed of nephrons, etc.

In my opinion, heart tastes more like muscle meat than an orgran.

It's an organ. I would categorize it as Offal.
