Creamed honey in my coffee? Smoothies?

So I'm on my 2nd week of the paleo diet and have been wondering if I have sabitoged myself with putting a tablespoon of creamed honey in my coffee the past3 days? I also have been having cravings for smoothies and have had one with frozen fruit and coconut milk almost every night the past 5 days. Is this ok?

I found during the first few weeks of eating paleo you shouldn't restrict your fruit intake too much. Its hard enough for your body to get used to cutting out all sweets and all those yummy carbs. If fruit helps you avoid cheating on other foods which are processed and bad for you then by all means it eat! It might slow the weight loss down a bit, but its great for you especially berries! I myself eat several servings of fruit a day and have lost about 8lbs in a month which I'm content with.

I slowly decreased the amount of sweetener I added to my tea and coffee. Started with probably a tablespoon like you, but over the course of a few months, I went down to using honey only occasionally and in small amounts. I wouldn't fret over it just yet, but start considering a slow decrease in how much you use.

While I don't think what you are doing is terrible, my thought is this- are you craving smoothies or just fruit? I find that when I have a smoothie I end up consuming more sugar than I really want and end up craving more, whereas I would have been satisfied after a piece of whole fruit or a few berries.

Don't worry about "sabotaging" yourself. Just use your own body as an experiment. If you are concerned about the creamed honey and the smoothies, try removing them for a while. That's the one true way to find out how your body is really responding to these foods.

Are you sabotaging yourself by adding an extra 50 calories to your daily intake? Extremely unlikely.

Creamed honey is delicious, I have only just discovered it myself.

It all depends on what your goals are.
I find that anything sweet inspires more sweet cravings. If this isn't a problem for you and you are achieving your goals than more power to you!
