Anyone on PlaeoHacks working shift-work? Just wondering how you adjust your diet around that time: how much do you eat, when you eat. I work on 12 hour rotations, usually 6 to 6 or 10 to 10. Anyone has advice that really works for them? I... (more)
Intermittent fasting can free up your schedule; as fasts of 12, 24, 36 or even 48 hours are not unheard of on an established ketogenic diet. Meals get larger, intervals get longer; aggregate cooking time doesn't scale up as much as volume - so... (more)
I've been on thirds for since January. I know the havoc working nights (3:30p-3:30a) can cause a body and decided to compensate as much as possible by vastly improving my diet. In fact I probably wouldn't have gone Paleo if it wasn't for working... (more)
This past Saturday I wanted to have a glass of wine with my friend. I have been on paleo for 2 weeks and was feeling great. We'll that one glass of wine turned into a couple glasses and some beer as well :( I also binged on some pretzels and... (more)
I just recently started eating paleo. I am a 5'4" 114 pound female. I notice I get this weird rash at night after eating dinner and my night snack. It's right under my chest on my upper abdomen. There are all these little red dots. I noticed the... (more)
Hi all, I am a breastfeeding mama to a 7 month old who nurses ever 1-2 hours, 24 hours a day (no suggestions on not nursing this frequently; she needs to for medical reasons). If I don't eat a snack right before bed, I am unable to sleep in the... (more)
So, I work 3 twelve hour night shifts a week. Normally they are all in a row. The night before they start I usually stay up til 1 or 2 in the morning or nap before the day of. I get off work at 7:30, try to be in bed by 8:30 am and get 8 full... (more)
Here some info you might find useful: http://www.marksdailyapple.com/night-eating-syndrome-causes-solutions/
from what I've heard kiefer saying (carb backloadin / carb nite solution) it seems that whilst we are more insulin sensitive in the morning, this includes fat cells as well as the muscle. If you time the carbs for night, and particularly large... (more)
I've been eating paleo-ish for about 18 months. At times I am very hardcore and others I tend to cheat. My goal is to stay on a strict paleo diet for at least 30 days, then reintroduce foods. However, nights are my downfall. I usually eat a... (more)
Hello tribe, I'm struggling a little with my weight loss, i'm wondering if it would be a good idea to cut on the carbs at night. I usually eat plantains or sweet potatoes at dinner time. Love to all
I'd do the opposite. I find that a bit of starch with supper helps me sleep and avoiding it during the day keeps appetite low. I also really like IF...missing breakfast cuts my appetite a lot.
Sure, you can brush your teeth before and after bed, but what about the in-between? I would think having fresh breath in the morning would be a plus for married couples? Am I wrong?
I have been following paleo off and on for the past two months or so. I recently started working until around 10 or 11 pm. I also count my calories just to keep everything in check, I shoot for around 1200 cals. Before I go to work I'll have a... (more)
I've been on paleo for little less than 3 months now - living almost 100% with an occasional "fall of the wagon" moment here and there. I workout 3-4 times a week - mostly crossfit mixed with some fitness boxing and weightlifting. I'm 5.8 tall,... (more)
Last night, I experienced 'infra-red' vision for the first time! I have a section of my home that is completely dark. Blacked out. And yet I could see everything. Blurry and vague, but I could see. It appeared as a very subtle red and orange... (more)
I don't generally have a segmented sleeping pattern. Instead, I fall fast asleep most nights and don't get up until my alarm goes off the next morning, about seven hours later. If I'm feeling really run down, I'll sleep between eight and ten hours... (more)
I understand that alcohol isn't exactly paleo, but there are times when we are going to go drinking at a bar. I have been drinking tequila, soda, and lime so the drink itself isn't horribly un-paleo. What paleo foods do you find that work well... (more)
What is the general consensus on working out in the PM? I live in Finland and it gets dark here around 3, completely dark by 4pm. I find that for whatever reason my biggest motivation to workout comes between the hours of 7pm and 1am. I've... (more)

So I've pretty much been able to completely curb my desire to snack in between meals and because I have such a high fat breakfast, I often don't need mug for lunch, though I usually eat a large enough dinner. I'm keeping under 30 carbs a day which... (more)
Hello all, firstly thank you all for contributing to the brilliant resource that is Paleo Hacks. While this is my first post, I am an avid lurker.. I've been living 80% Paleo for about 2 years now, but decided to make the full switch recently.... (more)
So the studies show better body composition for night eating and carbs especially. Using CBL or Carb Nite, how much time between your last bite and shut eye qualifies as night eating? That is, what's the min and max window here?
I generally feel better when I don't have that "stuffed" feeling just before going to bed. I had a large chilli/butternut squash meal last night, which I finished at 1930 and went to bed around 2230, feeling nice and rested. Other time I've not... (more)
I've woken up with diarrhea two separate times...and I ate late both nights. But I also had canned salmon both nights. Would the salmon be causing my diarrhea? Or just eating late at night? How could eating late cause this if it his is the problem? (more)
I think my circadian's cycles are wrong , cause are months that I go to bed very late ( 5-6 am) and I wake up at 12:00/13 am . So my times are really wrong , and I read about the circadian's cycles , can you tell me if my wrong lifestyle can... (more)

I heard you can't "catch up on sleep". Is that true? I know I should probably go to bed when it gets dark or at latest 10:00-10:30, but often times I find myself getting many things done past that hour, because it is quiet and peaceful, and I'm... (more)
I don't know, but ever since I started eating paleo I don't feel the need to eat anything after dinner. Perhaps it's a sign that you are not eating enough earlier in the day if you are still hungry?
