Does anyone know a good clear website for breaking down how to make sense of an NMR profile? I'm asking this here as the ancestral health community generally has a better approach to what really matters rather than taking what conventional... (more)

Chris Kresser's High Cholesterol Action Plan indicates LDL-P should be <1000. There seems to be individual variation and experimentation helps. One experiment might be to increase starchy carbs and reduce saturated fat and monitor the... (more)

Recently I had a bunch of blood tests done including an NMR lipid panel. Everything is great except for one number. The problem is that some people say that's the only number that matters. The number is LDL-P, the number of LDL particles, which... (more)

OK, I did a re-test recently. It's interesting partially because I had lipid panels done at two different places from the same blood sample (well, different vials but drawn at the same time). This way we have three different sets of numbers. The... (more)

Just ran my 1st NMR test after 18+ months on Paleo and it is disappointing to say the least. Total Cholesterol - 297 mg/dL HDL-C - 51 mg/dL LDL-C - 231 mg/dL Triglycerides - 77 mg/dL HDL-P - 31.8 (LOW) LDL-P - 2565 (VERY HIGH) Small LDL-P - 883... (more)

3 letters: SNP = single nucleotide polymorphism. TC and LDL skyrocket on a high fat diet for ApoE4. I would cut down on dairy, butter, eggs and introduce some tubers, white rice, if you prefer, then retest. I've seen this so often now that... (more)

I just had an NMR test done for a "no doubt about it" lipid profile. I'm looking for a Doc who can read the test results and give me an honest to goodness assessment of where I stand. Results should be in by Tuesday, 25 January. My "regular"... (more)

In your case, an NMR test is really not going to tell you anything of use. The only really useful parameter in an NMR is LDL-P and with an LDL-C (I am assuming thats what is was) of 363, your LDL-P is very, very likely going to come back very high... (more)

Lipid profile looks good. Having low small LDL is really good -- small, dense LDL is highly atherogenic so the less of that the better. CRP is a marker of inflammation, so lots of things can make it go up -- sprained ankle, allergies, etc. My... (more)
