A quick tip on how to check the quality of your asparagus. Asparagus when fresh have a waxy coating on it. Sometimes when you buy store bought or on the farmers market they can be weeks and weeks old and the sugars break down the waxy skin... (more)
Another one is - if it is REALLY fresh, there will be sap exuding from the bottom of the stalk. If the bottom of the stalk is dry and woody - it is getting on in age!

Is it possible to overdose on thiamine supplements, or does it have any other negative effects like folate? I take a 100mg tablet every day, I try to get what i can from food. I also take folate, but in the metafolin form.
