Sounds like nutrient deficiencies. Try some bone broth, liver and some hard cheese. Not all supplements absorb well.

Nope. People on all muscle meat may have deficiencies, but those cultures who focus on meat only seek out and specifically consume offal and glands that most people miss.

Hot sauce should be put on everything. If you have kids you should start them early with tabasaco sauce (the pepper can be tricky to work with) and horseradish.

Folate is the other major dietary limiting factor besides iron and B12, but as 12.7 isn't abnormal I doubt you're deficient. Raising a normal hemoglobin is probably not going to happen without external tricks like chambers/altitude training or... (more)

I believe minimum RDA is based on 2000 calories. I don't know how it scales if you eat double the calories. I don't think it does really.

I've seen a few studies that link AGEs (advanced glycation end products) to cataracts. It seems to be unclear whether this is caused by dietary AGEs or the effect is strictly limited to those produced in the body.
