Not unless you are a T1 diabetic, with out of control BG levels.

No, not unless you're diabetic and even then.

Me too. When my Doctor spotted ketones in my urine as a newly diagnosed T2 diabetic, he threw a wobbly, and I gotted dragged to the diabetes centre and told to "prepare for a night or two in hospital". After an hour or two of interrogation, they realised that these were diet induced ketones, and sent me home with some finger wagging.

They just don't understand. The're confusing ketosis with ketoacidosis. The two things are completely unrelated.

Unless you are a T1 diabetc, or you are a serious alcoholic, ketones are nothing to worry about.

I had the exact same thing happen when I first started eating Paleo. I had always been prone to bladder infections, so it was no suprise to get another one and head to the doctors. However, when I got there he told me I might be diabetic because keytones were present in my urine sample. However, after a few tests it was obvious my blood sugar was fine and I wasn't diabetic, I had merely gone into keytosis without realizing it. On the plus side after being paleo for nearly six months I have not had a bladder infection in almost five months, a record for me!

Having protein/ketones in the urine is not an infection, having bad bacteria is infection. So did you have any bad bacteria identified by the doctor?
