Eating Paleo for the first time but no weight loss, what gives?

I have been eating Paleo for a week now without any noticeable progress in my weight. I haven't cheated once, and I bike ~60 miles a week. I know I shouldn't use the scale as a measure, but I can't help but look at it. Should I be seeing anything after 1 week or am I expecting too much?

Really? I should eliminate all sugar from my diet? I thought since it was one piece of fruit a day on average I would be all right.

Yes, veggies only. I could always throw some chicken in there, though. I haven't gone to the store yet, but I will definitely be picking up some coconut oil. Thanks for the tips!

What Canis Minor said, plus this: by "garden salad," do you mean veggies only? If so, maybe you should try throwing in some protein and/or an avocado (for fat) looking forward. Cook your eggs (or anything/everything, really) in ghee or coconut oil, too. Again, as CM stated, a week isn't very long. Tinker with things for at least 30 days and let us know how you're doing then.

Sorry about that. Average daily is eggs with scallions and 2 slices of bacon, usually an apple or pear for breakfast, fairly large garden salad with home made vinaigrette for lunch, snack of a few almonds, chicken/beef/fish with steamed green veggies for dinner.

At the risk of stating the obvious:

  • Paleo is not in itself a weight loss diet.
  • One week is not very much time, even if you're eating nothing at all.
  • If we don't know what you're eating, we can't really be much help in helping you fine-tune what should, optimally, be a long-term and sustainable way of eating that gets you the results you're after.
