Is there a link between coffee and pimples?

Since starting the paleo diet I have started to drink a lot more coffee (I know, not good) but I've noticed that I breakout in pimples a lot more than when I didn't drink coffee. Has anyone else experienced this? I've decided to go cold turkey on coffee to see if my breakouts improve anyway.

Took Accutane when I was younger, worst time of my life. I've since been taking sulfamethoxazole/trimethoprim pills, and they work magic for my skin. Also, this diet has exponentially reduced my acne so much that I probably don't need the prescriptions any more.

I have acne vulgaris, and any bean products (coffee) give me small white heads.

I personally have suffered from severe acne before. I was prescribed on 6 months of Accutane and I have very clear skin now. I have done a lot of research on causes of acne.

I have found that for me it is stuff like processed foods, candy, chocolate, soda, etc. that cause me to break out, even to this day. I am an avid coffee drinker and find it ahs no effect on me personally.

But through my research I began to notice that there is no "one" thing that causes acne for everyone. Yes there are commonalities such as junk food and sweets that cause breakouts in most people but everyone is different.

I have read studies that show caffeine causes acne but I don't believe it applies to everyone.

My suggestion to you is to do what you are already doing and go cold turkey on coffee and any other caffeine products and see if your acne clears. I also don;t know if you put any creamers or anything else in your coffee that could contribute to the acne. If you acne clears because your not consuming any caffeine then vuala, you have found your culprit.

If your acne persists then you must examine other things that you do that could contribute.

From personal experience I have found that personal experimentation is the best way to solve an acne problem because no one is the same.

It might be about the quality of the coffee more so than the coffee itself. Coffee is prone to mold which can cause all sorts of problems.

You could try switching to a higher quality coffee before going cold turkey, and see if it helps. Also look to other things in your diet, dairy, nightshades, etc as potential causes.
