Just got a bunch of them from hubby's business trip in Indonesia. They're also called bogor peanuts, but don't taste like peanuts at all. Other than this wikipedia article, I can't find much nutritional information about it. Thanks! (more)

I think I have eaten them before. A Nigerian friend made groundnut (not peanut groundnut, she said it was the "other kind of groundnut") stew with pilau. DELICIOUS. Tasted a little bit like boiled peanuts but with a more mushroomy, earthy... (more)

There are many accepted-as-paleo-but-not-really foods and/or behaviors. Dairy is probably the poster child of this category - absolutely not paleo, and yet I'd wager most people here use butter. People who drink post work out shakes have a 100%... (more)

Peanuts are legumes -- sure. But should a botantical classification that was invented by man be considered infallible? For me, peas, string beans, peanuts -- all of which are legumes -- do not pose a problem for me, and I consume them. ... (more)

[Yes, yes, I know. "Peanuts aren't paleo." "Just eat whole, unprocessed foods." "Try almond/cashew/macadamia nut butter." "I'm going to answer not the question you asked, but the one I want to answer." I just want some help grading this... (more)

I use PB2 occasionally when I have a mad chocolate and peanut butter craving. I've never eaten it plain (my husband said it tasted funny), but I mix it with Kerrygold butter, coconut oil, cocoa powder and a bit of honey then let it set up in the... (more)

In contemplating trying for a baby sometime soon I have been thinking about food allergies and intolerances. What got me thinking initially was the evidence from my own diet - and anecdotes from fellow Paleohackers - about how progressively ill we... (more)

Aside from the argument of lectin content and omega 3-6 ratios, why can I not consume peanuts or peanut butter when adopting the Paleo lifestyle? It seems to me their "naughtiness" is over-hyped. Regarding peanut oil, is it actually made from... (more)

What I do when I buy natural peanut (or almond butter) where the oil is on the top: 1) I pour the oil off. 2) Then I wipe off any excess oil from the sides and lid. 3) Then I add melted grass fed butter and stir. 4) Then I keep it in the fridge,... (more)

I am wondering why, despite their high monounsaturated fat content, peanuts are being vilified by many who espouse a paleo diet? This food source is Cheap and a starving student needs food! Is it the Omega ratio again(6:3; preponderance in favour... (more)

Peanuts are legumes, not nuts, so generally they are not considered paleo. You can read about why this is here, in this excellent article: http://whole9life.com/2009/12/peanut-manifesto/ Excerpt: It???s not the ingredients in the peanut... (more)
