I've only been doing Paleo for 1 week and on the 6th day my period started! I'm on continuous birth control pills and have never had a breakthrough issue until now...this isn't spotting, it's a full blown period. Has anyone else experienced this? (more)

Yeah this is the only time I've ever had breakthrough/full blown period in the 5 years I've been on the pill continuously; it has to be the change in diet. No coincidence here :)

Totally normal. Your hormonal system changes because you eat a new diet. After a few months when your system has adapted and is in a nice balance, your period will be more regular than ever before.

I'm under the impression that phytoestrogens and phytate are the main reasons non-soy-sensitive people avoid soy in the first place, and phytate is more of a "less-is-better" thing than something you need to avoid 100% in order to benefit. So if... (more)
