I see conflicting information on this all over the interwebs. Does a low carb diet lower testosterone? How about having high protein consumption? I've been experiencing lowered libido since getting stricter on my low carb diet, but I also... (more)
Hi, I have been eating paleo for almost 4 weeks now and I still don't feel great. The first few days were AMAZING. I had a ton of energy and all I wanted to do was work and get stuff done. Unfortunately after a few days I started to feel weak and... (more)
Of course protein is necessary but I'm starting to think the whole thing about not eating fat and getting protein in your body as soon as possible is BS... My opinion based on personal experience: fat might be beneficial to a post workout... (more)
Hi there! I'm new to this forum and I'm glad I found it because I have a lot of doubts about Paleo and my protein intake. I'd like to switch to a paleo diet but, here in Italy, organic meat has a high price so I's like to ask you some... (more)
I have heard garlic increases testosterone and protein synthesis. So I tried it. My diet: VLC mostly raw lamb and beef, meat/fat liver, fish oil, coconut oil, avocado, tallow, green veggies, no starchy roots or grains, or fruit. My goal has... (more)
+1 for "nocturnal emmisson", +1 for tracking your BW that closely, +1 for figuring out how to get a 6x increase in weight gain over base, by eating raw garlic.
I eat meat with fruit all the time because, well, it's delicious. The reason I've heard against eating fruit and meat together is that fruit contains vitamin c which can increase iron absorption. But then I thought about it... and a pepper has... (more)
What is does your protein intake look like? Has high (1.5-2g/lb bodyweight or more) protein intake affected your training and/or fat loss? I thought of this question after reading "The Myth of 1g/lb: Optimal Protein Intake for Bodybuilders", and... (more)
I'm gonna preface this by saying that this isn't a post about me complaining about why I can't eat all I want or whatever. It's just something I've noticed recently, and I'm curious if anyone else has experienced it, or if anyone knows why. So,... (more)
I think my question is pretty straightforward. I'm mostly interested in how protein in meat/fish will cause an increase in insulin. And if a person eats a consistently high protein diet, would they (or should they) have any reason to fear?
I'm surprised I haven't seen this here yet. I was wondering what people's thoughts here are on Quorn, a man-made protein product. It's not made from grains or soy. It's a mycroprotein. http://www.quorn.us/About-Us/ I normally eat eggs and... (more)
It's highly processed with various additives, so it's quite bad IMHO. I used to eat that a lot when I was living in the UK (I had a phase where I tried to limit real meat 12-14 years ago).
I currently use a protein powder made from pea protein, hemp and chia seeds. I know, I know...it's not 100% paleo because of the pea protein. I have another that uses rice and pea protein. I love eggs and fish and use that as my main staple... (more)
I'm wondering how many grams of protein per day is healthy and recommended for a young, active female? Should I follow the .8-1.2 grams/kg of body weight ratio? Any advice is greatly appreciated!
I never thought it possible...but I'm losing my taste for meat. Actually the thought of eating it makes me feel gaggy. I have always been a meat eater, and would prefer it over other treats .. but now that I've been eating so much of it...it's... (more)
Listen to your body, maybe take a break from the meat you regularly eat. Maybe take this as an opportunity to try other types of meat you don't ordinarily eat. Maybe you could try some new organ meats, duck, pheasant, quail, deer, or goat meat. (more)
The interesting concept of autophagy and its association with protein restriction brings to mind a very important question. I know that Stephan, at wholehealthsource, has elucidated the protein content of many traditional diets, but I was... (more)
From listening to podcasts/talks, I heard, at some point, Matt Lalonde talking about a lowish-than normal protein intake on some days, and then super high-protein intakes on other days, (weekends for example.), which is eventually going to promote... (more)

How much meat do you eat? Are you at a half pound or under per day? Around a pound? More than 2 pounds? Also are there other significant forms of protein in your diet? OPTIONAL: If you are on low protein what is your reason?
I am on the hunt for an un-denatured (non-denatured) whey protein that does not contain malt, as malt breaks down into MSG. My bestfriend has a neuro-degenerative disease and the diet calls for this criteria; yet I can't find a protein powder... (more)
What is the most paleo-friendly (no flavorings, etc) cold-processed(!) CFM(!) Whey Concentrate (not isolate!) out there? Ideally, a widely available brand. Thank you! UPDATE: As rightly mentioned below, CFM Concentrate doesn't exist. I suggest... (more)
Hi! Well in my other post I talked about why I'm adding carbs ( Dear Eastern and German Europeans, what are your macronutrient ratio's? ) I've been wondering for a while now which of the other two macronutrients ( fat/protein) to lower. A month... (more)
I stopped measuring my food because it was getting annoying - but now I feel like I'm eating way too much protein. I calculate that I'm suppose to eat about 70 grams per day but that leaves me feeling still hungry. Sometime I eat about 70g of... (more)
I thought I had this one figured out but now am hopelessly confused. If we divide the types of food into protein, carbs (low carb of course), and fat, which meals should focus on which of these three? I've read not to have carbs for dinner but... (more)
Hello all, I am looking for a protein bar that is ideal for refuelling after long distance endurance events; it needs to be rich in branch chain amino acids and moderate to high GI carbohydrates. Paleo friendly would be a plus but isn't... (more)
Does it have to be in one bar? I would think Lara Bars would give you the carbs you need and jerky would give you the protein you need. Or you could make your own pemmican bars (which sound like a lot of work for something that doesn't seem too... (more)
