I'm having a hard time eating protein. I'm monitoring my intake on MyFoodDiary.com and it's helpful. I'm trying to stay under 100g of carbs, but I can't get enough protein in. I'm trying to stick to Robb Wolf's ratios. Any advice? Trying to lose... (more)
I was just wondering if anyone on here does a high protein diet? What happens when you eat a diet primarily of protein with low carbs and low fats? I remember reading once that what your body cannot use of protein, it wastes. Does that mean you... (more)

Sounds like your trying to lose weight fast. Still stuck in the diets must be starvation mindset. You're probably around 600-700 calories for what you have described, that's starvation level. You do yourself no favors eating that little.
How are you guys able to measure how many grams of protein you are eating? I don't have a scale..Also, I have heard you must eat 1 gram per desirable weight. I want to be 130lbs, so 130 grams? Is this right?
I have been doing a ton of reading and just never posted anything before so just bare with me here. I appreciate any and all help. I am 6'7" and 300lbs. Have been following a Paleo Diet for a few weeks now, but always have bad weekends (beer)... (more)
My roommate is constantly trying to find out how much protein should be eating, and has turned to the internet and asking people that give her conflicting answers. She's naturally thin (5'6" and 110), does yoga a few times a week, and works as a... (more)
Hi all, I'm new to this whole paleo gig thing and while many people seem to be happy not tracking their calories I want to start with some good ol' diarising to get my head around exactly what 60% fat, 25% protein, 15% carbs LOOKS like! Can... (more)
Is there any scientific or nutritional reasoning behind including protein with every meal? How bout just a hearty dark green leafy salad with avocado or something? FWIW, I'm a 22 year old male, 5 foot 10 and 118 lbs. For my whole life, gaining... (more)
Hi there, I'm currently following the 5x5 StrongLifts regimen and making great progress! However, I've read that all that is necessary to build 1lb of protein, which is the max you can build a week, is 100g extra of protein. If this is true, why... (more)
If you are losing fat and gaining muscle DON"T CHANGE ANYTHING! If you pleateau on either front and are still not satisfied with your body composition, THEN you can start tweaking calories/macros/etc.
I feel like I'm in the minority here... I am 118 lbs and 5'10" and I want to gain weight. I am dedicated to eating paleo also because i have rheumatoid arthritis and it helps a ton with that. Can't eat nuts though. Any tips on gaining weight... (more)
Yesterday I participated in Hydrostatic Body Fat Composition Testing, results heavily suggesting a caloric intake of 1404 (resting) and an extra 300 when exercising. Generally, paleo's don't calorie count for weight (/fat) loss, but I did find the... (more)
Calories do matter and people can experience weight gain on paleo if they overeat. Calorie counting is pretty easy nowadays with a variety of websites/apps that essentially do it for you. Cronometer, Paleotrack, LoseIt, FitDay, etc...

Is it just me or does following the 1g protein/lb of bodyweight with meals constructed around non-starchy vegies and protein/fat (aka meat) automatically put you in calorie restriction? Let me expand: Robb Wolf (kudos to the guy) suggests 1g/lb... (more)
Hypothetically speaking, which of the three macronutrients fats/proteins/carbs could singularly sustain you for the rest of your life if at all? And why?
None of them. They're all needed.
Hi, I have been eating paleo for almost 4 weeks now and I still don't feel great. The first few days were AMAZING. I had a ton of energy and all I wanted to do was work and get stuff done. Unfortunately after a few days I started to feel weak and... (more)
Of course protein is necessary but I'm starting to think the whole thing about not eating fat and getting protein in your body as soon as possible is BS... My opinion based on personal experience: fat might be beneficial to a post workout... (more)
I have heard garlic increases testosterone and protein synthesis. So I tried it. My diet: VLC mostly raw lamb and beef, meat/fat liver, fish oil, coconut oil, avocado, tallow, green veggies, no starchy roots or grains, or fruit. My goal has... (more)
+1 for "nocturnal emmisson", +1 for tracking your BW that closely, +1 for figuring out how to get a 6x increase in weight gain over base, by eating raw garlic.
I eat meat with fruit all the time because, well, it's delicious. The reason I've heard against eating fruit and meat together is that fruit contains vitamin c which can increase iron absorption. But then I thought about it... and a pepper has... (more)
What is does your protein intake look like? Has high (1.5-2g/lb bodyweight or more) protein intake affected your training and/or fat loss? I thought of this question after reading "The Myth of 1g/lb: Optimal Protein Intake for Bodybuilders", and... (more)
I'm gonna preface this by saying that this isn't a post about me complaining about why I can't eat all I want or whatever. It's just something I've noticed recently, and I'm curious if anyone else has experienced it, or if anyone knows why. So,... (more)
I think my question is pretty straightforward. I'm mostly interested in how protein in meat/fish will cause an increase in insulin. And if a person eats a consistently high protein diet, would they (or should they) have any reason to fear?
I'm surprised I haven't seen this here yet. I was wondering what people's thoughts here are on Quorn, a man-made protein product. It's not made from grains or soy. It's a mycroprotein. http://www.quorn.us/About-Us/ I normally eat eggs and... (more)
It's highly processed with various additives, so it's quite bad IMHO. I used to eat that a lot when I was living in the UK (I had a phase where I tried to limit real meat 12-14 years ago).
I currently use a protein powder made from pea protein, hemp and chia seeds. I know, I know...it's not 100% paleo because of the pea protein. I have another that uses rice and pea protein. I love eggs and fish and use that as my main staple... (more)

Listen to your body, maybe take a break from the meat you regularly eat. Maybe take this as an opportunity to try other types of meat you don't ordinarily eat. Maybe you could try some new organ meats, duck, pheasant, quail, deer, or goat meat. (more)
