Rapid weight loss can definitely cause gallstones - your body dumps cholesterol into the bile and stones form in the gallbladder. I can tell you that I formed stones losing weight on a high fat paleo diet, to the point that I had to remove my gb.... (more)

I've been getting 2g/kg protein/bodyweight on my Leangains program. To lose fat, I've had to dip down at or below 2000/1400 cal training/rest. I'm being told to spare muscle I should obey the Leangains advice of 2.5-3.0g/kg protein... (more)

My own n=1 experiment found no difference in fat weight loss rate when consuming 20-30g or 80-100g of protein on workout days, so now I don't bother going all-out on reducing fat consumption PWO. I keep protein high (100+g) on off-days. 71kg male,... (more)

What do you guys eat during your PSMF? Most of the things I've eaten have tasted like cardboard, but I have a broiled chicken staple that I've made variations of that tastes good! I cut chicken breasts into large chunks and marinate... (more)

Beef heart is quite lean if you trim it well. Good to get some red meat and not just chicken breast or whitefish. I also like to broil beef heart after I coat it with spices. Garam masala works well for me. I've never done a PSMF, just offering a... (more)

It's a good point for me too... However I haven't been gaining weight but it has made it harder for me to go below 15% body fat (men). I think a reason I don't gain weight is because I do intermitent fasting 1-2 times a week and often I will skip... (more)

I've been reading some here about protein sparing modified fasts, and some of the people who speak wonders of it (as a temporary measure) also appear to be foodies. So, how do you make your PSMF yummy? I'm not actually planning on trying it at... (more)

I'm a foodie. PSMFs are wonderfully effective. I am 5'9" tall. The 3 are not related. A PSMF is certainly not a 'foodie' diet, even if 'foodies' can do it. After many failed PSMF diets I can tell you my favorite PSMF meal was: Nonfat cheese... (more)
