I'm on vacation and don't have the funds are tools to make homemade Paleo salsa. Are there any brands I can buy at the store that would be as close to Paleo as possible? I have a wal-mart, publix, and ward's (organic family-owned) nearby.
I'll presume you don't mean the ones I make for myself each summer and can. ;^)
Wegmans has a line of salsas that I think are clean, and I also like some of the items from "green mountain gringo".
I think your best options would be the fresh salsas or pico blends in the produce section. If you go for the pico it is just hot peppers, tomatoes, and onions. You can add a little vinegar, lime juice, and salt to salsa-fy it a bit more. Or just a dash of salt and eat straight - my favorite option!
Brad's Organic Salsa line is very tasty, not sure if it is available nationwide, but it is jarred and they have some great flavors. I do prefer fresh salsa, but great tomatoes aren't always available, and they are totally the secret to amazing pico de gallo!! Their website is: http://www.bradsorganic.com/ which might help you find if they distribute near you. There are a ton of other organics listed on their website which I have never seen but will definitely seek out.
I will buy a jar of 505 Chile occasionally, http://www.505chile.com/products.html
Most of their products are gluten free with rice flour added for thickening, though they do make one (Roasted and Diced Green Chile, second to the bottom on the page above) that is just green chile, garlic and lime.
If I don't feel like making my own, I consider these a decent option, though they aren't a staple of my diet by any means.
